Week #25 Snappiness :D

I took a whole whack of shots over the past few days at a number of different places. It was a good week

Mill Lake Park in Abbotsford, I think that they all saw me and didn't want their pictures taken
Week 25 - Snappiness 1.JPG

From Tannery Park, the old Patullo bridge with the new, replacement bridge (almost completed), behind it
Week 25 - Snappiness 2.JPG

Also from Tannery Park, the fisherman looking out at the Skytrain bridge
Week 25 - Snappiness 3.JPG

At Imperial Landing Park in Steveston, the old piers
Week 25 - Snappiness 4.JPG

And then looking the other way, someone had left their bike
Week 25 - Snappiness 5.JPG

And some plant shots from Bear Creek Park

A great set, and I really like your chosen shot - quirky and good low viewpoint.

Your pier shot is just my sort of scene - I would put in B&W with lots of contrast. But that's just me.

LOL, did that already, just didn't post them...

All nice shots Bill. I love that first bridge shot!
Thanks Simon, I've shot the bridge a number of times over the years but it will soon be gone. They are looking at opening the new one in the Fall, after which they'll start demoing the old one.

Nice set Bill, agree with above comments on the bridge and pier. The B&W long exposure is a cracker.
If relaxed or chilled comes up as a subject one week you need to find that fisherman :)

Got me chuckling Keith, thanks for the great comments!

A nice varied set Bill. Something very 'Stephen King' about the chosen shot!

A great set for the week! It's a shame the geese didn't want to cooperate as that would have been even better. Agree with your chosen shot being the best, but also really like the partially built pic too

A great set, Bill. Your chosen one is (once again) a very original take on the theme.

The flyovers and bike park are very strong images.

Thanks Paul, I had fun with the titles as well :D

Brilliant titles! I agree with your chosen shot, although I really like the security coupling point too :ROFLMAO: All really good takes on the theme!

Great set again and like the titles :). Security coupling point probably my favourite

All good as usual but the "vertical transport assist enclosure" is the pick of the bunch.

Great shots and in particular the circles in the bike rack really drew my eye through the picture.

Thanks Keith, seems to be a bit of a consensus :D

Thank you Allan, I was lucky to be there when it was going up.
Great shots and in particular the circles in the bike rack really drew my eye through the picture.
Thanks Simon.
Nice shots as always Bill. Good take on the theme.
Thank you Simon.

Week #27 Deserted

Went for a short walk through Chinatown and down to Gastown.

On Skytrain, lucky enough to be in an empty car:

And at Broadway station there was no-one around:
Week 27 - Deserted 2.JPG

Saw a number of bars/pubs that were deserted (until opening time). I liked this shot of the empty pool table:

And in Chinatown, through a security grate:

Another bar, that had these funky coloured tables right close to the window:

On the way to Gastown (in a not very nice part of the city, there was this alleyway...

A great set, and your chosen shot has a wonderful feel to it. Well done!

Good set Bill, as Paul said your chosen shot does look as though it has a good atmosphere, first two shots have a clinical design look and the alleyway is another story :)

Good set - love the lighting on the chosen shot :)

Ha, ha, I often walk past that alley but it's blocked off by an 8-foot chain link gate, so I can't go in and explore (while dodging the serial killers...).
Great set Bill, and your chosen shot is the best for me - very atmospheric!
Thanks Simon!
Good set as always, they have a bit of a 28 days later vibe
Thanks Allan, if I could have found some broken windows to shoot through, I might have gone for the 28 years later vibe :D
Good set - love the lighting on the chosen shot :)
Thanks Dave.

Week 28 Portraits

Not really my thing. I like to look at portraits but find the "doing" of portraits to constraining (if that makes sense), luckily there were these pigeons (and one crow) that were very cooperative. I've just downloaded a trial version of Nik Collection 8 and am having some fun working through the various modules. My previous version is the one that Google gave away for free many moons ago...

I too find portraiture uncomfortable, so well done for finding a workaround. And very successful it is too. Great set.

Agree with your choice Bill, nice pigeon. Tried Nik a a while ago when it was free, looks interesting

Nice set of budgies :)

It’s the Triptych that floats my boat :)

Nice set, I like your chosen pic & the crow is really good too (and I'm sure very noisy). I do like your first pigeon but like the colours of the main pic more

Excellent set of portraits!
Thanks Simon.

Thanks Paul. I don't find them uncomfortable, it's more that I find the process kind of boring...I'd much rather be out and about and spot something in the moment to grab.

Thanks Keith, yeah I've been using the free version for a long time so I thought that I'd give the new DXO version a try. I'm liking it so far.

Thanks Dave, the Analog Efex has a multi-lens preset that splits up an image in a number of different ways. It's pretty interesting seeing what I can get with different images.
Good choice the of pigeon shot, I found this difficult too.
Thanks Allan, it was pretty easy once I spotted the pigeons... :D

Thanks Megan, the crow was pretty interesting. He/she just perched there and every once in a while would just scream...not sure why...
