Darkslinger's 52 for 25

I really like your chosen shot. Perfect for the theme.

Really like #5 too.
Thanks Paul, that was my runner up...

Your chosen shot is very good indeed.
Thank you Allan.

The biggie inflatables for me :)
Think you chose the best shot, no seagulls and just a hint of colour in the sky
Thanks Keith, I almost went with a b&w version...

Your chosen shot was eye catching, made me want to click through. Best composition of them.
Thanks Alan.

Nice set and composition Bill. Love number 5!
My runner up! Thanks Simon.

Week #21 Figures
Walking down Robson Street this women's jacket was eyecatching:

Week 21 - Figure 1.JPG

This is a shot from across from Granville Island of the Giants. You can read about this here: GIANTS
Week 21 - Figure 2.JPG

While I was walking I happened to look up and kind of liked the light on the figures in this sign, and I rather liked the halo around the light from the processing:

The happy face on this guys shirt made me laugh:

And walking across the Granville Street bridge made for an interesting shot:

Nice set Bill. Love the giants :)

Nice set Bill especially the first 2 shots, fantastic coat:)

Nice set Bill. Love the giants :)
Thanks Dave, I've shot them a few times over the years.
Love your chosen shot!
Thanks Paul.
Nice set Bill especially the first 2 shots, fantastic coat:)
Thank you Keith, she caught my eye as I turned the corner. I wanted to get a few more shots but she ended up turning away into a store.
Nice set as always Bill. Love the chosen shot!
Thanks Simon.

Week #22 Vertical
Went to North Vancouver on a wet morning and then back around Water Street in Gastown.

The iconic Lonsdale Quay sign outside the market:
Week 22 - Vertical 1.JPG

I thought that one of the totems near the market would make for an interesting multi-exposure. 5 shots taken from different angles and merged in PS:
Week 22 - Vertical 2 (1 of 1).JPG

Saw this flagpole with the two pigeons and Vancouver in the background and liked the composition:
Week 22 - Vertical 5.JPG

On the ferry back to Vancouver I thought that the containers stacked vertically made for an interesting shot as well:
Week 22 - Vertical 4.JPG

And then the chairs stacked vertically seen through the window with some reflections of the street and the clouds, caught my eye:

Your chosen shot is very good - even the limp flag got the memo!

Nice set there Bill, like how you matched the bottom of the flagpole with the colour of the containers :)
Are they padlocks on the railings of the flagpole shot?

Thanks Keith, must have been subconscious...I didn't even twig to the colours being the same.

Good eye spotting the locks on the railing...

Fab set Bill. Love the totem thingie :)

Great set of pics on the theme - the totem pole was my favourite with the multi exp trick.

Thanks Simon, it was a close runner-up.

I'm always impressed by how you manage to find so many pictures to suit the theme, I would have a hard time selecting one to post up.

I do really like the flagpole. As mentioned above the colour matching of the pole and the containers/cranes in bg works well.
Thank Kell, unintended colour coordination works for me :D

Thank you Simon, I'm lucky that there are lots of opportunities where I live for each theme

Week #23 Bark

I wasn't too inspired by the theme this week and kept hoping for something to strike me (that's why such a late post). Anyways, I figured that I would go with how people impact the trees (bark) near where I live...

Barking up the right tree Bill :)

Agree with Kell, guess most of the trees in the park have an ID tag

Thanks Dave.
I think this is a great (and different) way to approach a familiar theme.

I think my fave is the City of Surrey one.
Thank you Kell, kind of a spur of the moment thing. I'm not sure what the tags are used for. I see them on park trees all over the place. Maybe some type of forest management/inventory thing.

Thanks Keith, not all the trees but on many of them.

Week #24 Street Photography

Aaaahhh, something more up my alley...

Went downtown and the light was fantastic for street photography, bright but clouded over, so the light was soft.
I saw this power pole with the red graffiti on it and thought that I'd try to get an image with it in the foreground and people crossing the street towards me. While I was waiting this guy with the red jacket came along and stood in front of me waiting for the light to change so he could cross...and there you go...
Week 24 - Street Photography 1.JPG

I had to include this one just because of the expression the guy in red walking down the street, so happy...
Week 24 - Street Photography 2.JPG

Got to have a couple of black and whites in the mix. This is the harbour looking towards North Vancouver. I liked how the clouds kind of lead me into the frame
Week 24 - Street Photography 3.JPG

I saw this woman standing, looking at the cranes in the distance and thought that it would make a good composition but I kind of goofed up and shot it as a landscape that had a bench to the left of the frame. When I was looking at the image later it just didn't work for me so I cropped it into a portrait orientation, much better.
Week 24 - Street Photography 4.JPG

This is a bunch of tourists from one of the cruise ships standing around the new Vancouver tourist sign. A recent installation, not without it's controversy (but I liked the colours). The image is cropped as a 65X24. I've been playing with this crop and I think that it works for this image.
Week 24 - Street Photography 5.JPG

This was shot from the hip and I wasn't sure what I had gotten until I sat down at my computer and looked at it on the big screen. Sometimes we get lucky (if we take enough shots). I love how the drops of water from the fountain are frozen in mid air.
Week 24 - Street Photography 6.JPG

Super set Bill. I think No2 does it best for me. He's feeling it :)

Good set Bill, another vote for #2. The expression and the water movement (y)

An excellent set but I am going with the 1st one its a really strong image.

Yeah, I was focused on trying something different using the water as a foreground. I took a number of shots but he looked like he was on top of the world.
A really nice set, well done.
Thanks Paul

Thanks Keith, he was just strutting along.
An excellent set but I am going with the 1st one its a really strong image.
Thanks Allan, that was sheer happenstance, being in the right place, at the right time and set up to take a shot (albeit a different one than I got).

Another great set of pictures, I quite like the lady looking at the cranes best, it makes me wonder what she is thinking.

Thanks Simon, to be honest that was the one that I almost posted as the chosen one. When I saw her standing there I was thinking the same thing that you were.
