I used to but not for many years.
I used to love watching the image magically appear under the red glow of the safe light. However, for me I think the loading of the film reels in pitch black was definately the best bit :nuts:

basically i had a cheap kitchen base unit with 2 metres of cheap worktop on it ,on that sat enlarger dev trays e.t.c
black pvc sheet on window fixed with velcro.
everything now sat gathering dust and never getting round to selling it
ah the memories of that wonderful fragrance of dev/stop & fix
and groping aroround in the dark without a women

In the 21st century people don't have darkrooms at home anymore, jamie. Those are now publicly accessible in the city, and have a different purpose than they did in the 20th century. And leather is the preferred fashion.

Does anyone here have a Darkroom setup at home? Just after some ideas on how you've got it set out. Pic's would be nice! You're all photographers afterall !! hehe

There was a pretty cool diagram in the Photography supliment in the Guardian last Saturday, cant find the same thing online though

Despite what W. Smith says some people do have darkrooms at home, EVEN in the 21st Century!!!! not all of use use digital (can't afford a DSLR and film is cheap) and want to learn the old ways.
I set mine up in my Garage, walled off a corner and made it light tight, cost me less that £100 all in. if you go onto tipf.org.uk and search darkroom then there are some pics of mine.

Some people also run steam engines. Also in the 21st century.
