I prefer the ooophy version, too, John. Lots of colours, textures and shapes in there.
I love what you've done, but I wouldn't rate it as one of your All Time Greats. (Sorry, that sounds as though I'm damming it without even the benefit of faint praise - so I'll emphasie - I DO like it!) It actually lloks a little soft on my screen, so maybe that's what's bothering me a little. I wonder if doing a small section of the pile and getting in closer would have been more Dark Star - ish?
I'll shut up - I'm sure I wouldn't have done it half as well!!!
Jean

You managed to get a way to light it then....
Lovely textures and colours in there John... I prefer the second more oompy version...
p.s. What have you been up to, to earn yourself that new user title?

All friends now though
.still trying to get around sorry its taken so long...glad I made it though, the oomphy one is fantastic John, the colours are eye popping, who wood've thought a simple idea makes for a perfect photo - like this lots.
Street: shrug: ah! its makes sense now, but unfortunately Ive not heard of this band - nice and colourful photo though![]()
The colours and detail to this shot are super. Even more super is how you got it round to "street" Nice one...Mick
Git down wit da crew! Wikkid!
Oh... and to pick up on the chopped shot... I too prefer the second take with added contrast.![]()
Well lets say it involved mistakenly banning someone who then 'virtually' beat me over the head with the Good BookAll friends now though

Really strong colours and details John. I like it.
Should I be really embarrassed to admit that I know who Blazin' Squad are?
. . . and that I've seen that video:
Lovely shot John - great colours and really good definition in the badges.
It's one I want to keep looking at and absorbing the details.
Hi John,
Really liking your alternative street shot! Good colours and composition, and like Sarah says it's something I'll want to look at to catch all the details.
Vibrant as fork! You is da bomb, man! Sick!
<cough> shoehorn <cough>
Great lighting..excellent shot.
Alright, not a crowbar, just a proud father
Great colours and loads of detail. Crisp and makes me want to know what each panel is for.![]()
<cough> shoehorn <cough>
Great lighting..excellent shot.
John,
Not sure how I've missed this thread. I thought I'd been round them all last week. I fail
Blimey you fail? I'm way behind :shake:
Curves: What an amazing shot. Bright, vibrant, bang on theme. Excellent choice.
Poetry: For me this is an example of breaking the compositional rules and winning. The vast expanse of snow only serves to highlight the "lone gnome" and works very well with the words.
Chopped: Again, for me, this is the weakest of your entries so far. But it's a really good shot that captures texture very well.
Street:
I think it is a great shot. You seem to be able to really find a way to add impact with brightness and colour without overdoing it. How much PP are on these if you don't mind me asking?
Ian.
Hi John. i love the chopped shot, but i have to go with the minority and plump for the origanal post. I like the sharpness and colours for your street entry.
Glad you explained the reason behind the STREET shot as I was a little :shrug:and I'll keep me boy band opinions![]()
Great shot of a unique jacket.![]()
Your street picture has disappeared I think.I like the cricket ball shot- lovely and sharp. Love your brothers poem. It brings to life your little gnome. The log pile is a very restful image. Hope to see your street pic reappear soon.
Ta Sarah and please don't be embarrassedIts a great song and video
#2 in 2003! I lurve it (but I'm biased
)

That's brilliant, wonderful colours, really nice 'take' on the theme too. Again things that are a little out of the ordinary really apeall to me (like my spelling).
Great colours - really draws the eye.
Phil
Sorry it's taken me so long to comment on Street, John, but I wanted to see the video first!
Well, the vid was worth waiting for - there's so much going on in it - and it puts 'your' jacket into context beautifully. How long did it take to shoot the vid? It looks as though there were crowds of people involved. And you must be very proud of what James and the rest of the Squad have achieved.
On to the photo: Are the panels all US Basketball Teams? The colours are great and it makes for a vibrant 'happy' photo.
Jean
Was it really 2003?
Thinking about it, I do remember it being on the radio at a friend's house warming party so yeah 2003 feels about right . . . and you'd know far better than me.
I gather from some of the other comments that your son was one of the squad? (I'm assuming the one wearing the jacket) You must be very proud of him for achieving that
Oh dear oh dear, COMPLETELY missed this thread til now. Well done John some absolutley great shots from you as usual! Awesome stuff!
Colours in Street are just great![]()
John, John, Where've you gone? Surely such an upstanding member isn't going to WIMP OUT of this 52?![]()
