Yes
I took back a faulty lens, swapped no hassle, got a filter, they gave a discount, then to top off their evil ways they let me play with a 100-400mm even though I said I;d never buy it - damn them it was excellent - I almost parted with the £1200+ on the spot...

Whats worse is that my wife said if I can't find a decent roof quote then I can get it instead!!!

Weird really I'd always avoided Jessops thinking their prices were high, but their customer service is second to none, and the nice lass in the shop let me take her picture to test the replacement lens :)

the Jessops in lincoln is rubbish. Dont even think they have and L lens's in.

Been in the same situation!! The b****rds were so good they convinced me to get a 50mm 1.4 instead of 1.8 :D

Dammit!!

lol wow the world of a sales person. Well i guess if they were not good at the job jessops would be gone.

Tis true. That being said, every one I have gone in theyre seriously nice realistic people. Spent an hour in there last time just chatting about photography and stuff, checking out lenses and bodies, they knew I wasn't buying as well. Cant fault them at all, just the fact their prices can be beaten online :)

Depends what people are buying. If you were running the place would you want a cabinet full of Ls when they'd likely sit there and gather dust? Isn't it better to keep stuff in stock that the majority of people want and order in the off L lens hgere and there?

Our local Jeeops (Poole) is excellent. Great, friendly staff, and knowledgable too. They're always my first port of call now.

I presume you are concocting bogus roofing company names and fake email addresses, in your upcoming series of unaffordable quotes, to achieve the desired outcome?
I'd let you have mine, but then I'd have to kill you.......

Never had a problem with Jessops, service is always better than Jacobs, friendly staff and always had no quibble with exchanges or refunds, right up to 30 days.

Don't try and take something back to Jacobs in 10 minutes after buying, unless it's SoGA fault they just cant be bothered.

I've always had great service from Jessops. Not so good from Jacobs, but nothing to complain about. Must admit though that I do enjoy ogling Jacobs selection of lenses a little more.

Me too. I bought a Nikon 14-24 which turned out to have a sticky zoom. I took it back to another branch (which was closer) and they swapped it with no hassle at all. The staff in both branches were excellent, very friendly & helpful - can't fault them at all.

If you have ever visited canary wharf branch, you should know the girl with glasses, that's what i call good staff. Always smiling, helpfull and friendly. There's some rubbish jessops branches, but some of them have exellent staff.

I had considered it, in fact when she said it I was in a restaurant and said I'd just ask the people on the next table ;)

John: Quote 1. I'll do it for £50,000. Is that unreasonable enough?

49k? Jesus! EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM 1200 squid - bargain.

I just been in to Jessops in Trafford Centre and the Girl in there has been really helpful every time I've been in there. Hannah she's called.

I've been to collect my 7D today but it's not in yet :-(

Really looking forward to splashing a grand on a couple of lenses... Canon 17-85 and a sigma 150-500.

I ended up buying a couple of xbox games Anyhoo!

Sounds good, did they let you use it on your camera?, and was it a display model or fresh out of the box?

i dont get in there much these days, their print service always has an orangey tint so i go elsewhere.

however the ginger/red bobbed hair lady (manager?) has always been very good. the newer staff im not sure about, ive heard them bumbling through some sales pitches before.

It was a display model, but yep they let me play out in the street on my camera.

Its the Nottingham branch I was at by the way.

Is no-one else going to ask?

Aye, this lass:

Seems familiar somehow and it really bugging me as I've only been in there once before.

Was she in an advert for them or something?

Unfortunately I can't join the 'Jessops Love-in' as I rate the customer service at my local store (Enfield) as below average. I have no problem with the two permanent staff members, just the manager and assistant manager.

Well, again credit to them - I just returned my Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 SP Di VC USD after just under a month of use and they were fine about it, no hassle.

That was at the Chesterfield branch, the first assistant - Chris I think - was very helpful and pleasant, his boss less so - no trouble just a miserable soul that barely said two words, but still he took it back and refunded, along with the filter & warranty I got for it.

So again top marks.

Went in the new one at Trafford Centre the other week and the lad who served me was worse than useless. No idea when new models were out and clearly no clue how to work any of the gear. Even the managers were bobbins.

Went back (not sure why) and the girl who served me was fantastic. Knowledgeable, helpful, not pushy and also not smug like I've seen in some Indy shops. Convinced me into buying a new camera from them anyway.

I do believe I got lucky though.

The store in Wrexham is a bit naff too. They seem to stock the minimum lens wise. Last time I went in there whilst on my lunch, I noticed they only had entry level cameras and budget lenses, with maybe two decent ones, which were horrendously overpriced.

For about the last 6 months I have found Jessops in Brum and Solihull to be;
Excellent prices (the interest free is like the cream on top)
Excellent service (no quibble on taking a lens back because it wasn't wide enough)
Pretty good stock levels (in relation to anywhere else at this time)

The Birmingham store is a really nice place now. I went in there to get a large print, browsed for an hour whilst waiting and ended buying a Billingham bag :)
and, the price of the Billingham was the best I had seen anywhere. There was no pressure to buy and the sales guy was honestly interested in talking photography.

Yes there are a few 'keener' sales staff who don't seem to know much and are very quick to ask "can I help you", but hey, they are there to make money.

As a recognised high street store in conjunction with the three points above I think they are the best out there at the moment.

Ah, the 'Bag Room' in the Birmingham branch is a dangerous place to wander into

I forgot to mention that, a couple of days ago I bought a Canon 60D, battery grip, memory card and it came free with a small bag and a rubbish camera/webcam thing worth £50. Well they charge £50, it's probably worth a fiver :D

The price online was within a few pound of everywhere else, so I thought I'd give them a go for the sake of them having a 10 day restock compared to no date listed for stock for the other sites I checked. Plus I was limited to 3 stores as I was paying via 6 month 0% finance :D

I'm having issues with their customer service too, or lack thereof. Emails unanswered, no confirmation that money has gone through (which I know it has). No email to tell me of delays. Site said dispatched one day then back order the next. Second email was replied to when I added how poor their service was, and they had (possible spam) in the subject line implying that was the reason they hadn't replied when I'd used their own web based contact tool. Their reply? "comments noted" and "your order will be completed shortly". Ace, I'll book shortly off to take delivery then....
