Dale's Garden Hide. (been a busy boy)

Nice capture of the Greenfinch. May I ask how you are finding the R5ii in comparison to the R7 for wildlife photography

Thanks.

I'm not finding anything staggeringly or even obviously different between the 2 at the moment. I think some things are at play here though, mainly the light, which hasn't really been anything near nice on my few outings to the hide with R5. I've also gotten used to how to process the R7 files and I'm not quite there with that on the R5ii yet.

Maybe the R5 is better with noise........ but then it should be.

The detail retention on the R7, with the 100-400L mkii is staggering and I think I'm seeing this at the moment too.

I'm sure the R5ii will have its day though, I have little doubt about that. (y)

Well, it was looking at me when I pressed the shutter, honest.

.................... and those grasses have to go.

At least 6 of these at the hide yesterday.

Ahhh, a Redpoll last week, although not sure if it's a common or lesser. I've crunched the books and still can't decide.

And........ just like that, it's over, for this hide anyway.

This little 8x6 wooden box has brought us many happy days and memories. Firstly, it was my Daughter's den, she wanted a playhouse when she was wee (2014) but we compromised and bought her a fairly cheap summerhouse. Cheap has maybe bitten us in the bum but it's not done bad for 12 years. It was repurposed and renovated in 2018, when it became my garden hide, something I'd always wanted. It's taught me a lot about birds and also, photography. This last year or so, since getting my new, purpose built hide, this one has deteriorated, being used for mainly a little bit of storage but I did let the maintenance slip a little too, as the floor was begining to give out and I lost interest. The time came this week to pull it down.

Some of the panels are still good and will be repurposed for fence screening. The rest though, is merely firewood now, or will probably end up in a skip that we are planning on hiring soon as we're having a clear out elsewhere.

So that's that for this hide, the end of this one but I've moved on now to the bigger, more robust hide. A sad day in some ways (especially to see it this way) but I will always remember my times with the old hide, she was a good ship.

The End?..............no, just moving on.
