Hey Everyone,

Looking to buy a lens from www.dalephotographic.co.uk - now I have never heard of them, they appear to be based in Leeds. I am just wondering if anybody has any experience with them before parting with my hard earned cash!

Cheers, Rob

I bought a Bowens light kit from them last year - great price & great service.

They have been around a long time.

I've bought a few small things from them over the years, never had any problem with either the goods or the shop....

Good place to buy - have used them several times, and bought quite a lot of gear from them. Ask for Stephen Ridsdale, a director there.

The shop is on the first floor balcony of a shopping centre in the city centre - Merrion Centre, for those that know it. Stephen is always prompt with email enquiries, and will hold stuff if they are low on stock, for you to collect, if you are going in person.

Cheers Bradders.

Ordered a twin ring 80-200mm Nikon lens from them some months ago and got an older single ring model instead - I had to return it to them but they did refund including full postage both ways.

Purchased from them a couple times. Mail order and direct, no problems aesy to deal with.

I bought a used Hasselblad outfit from them a couple of years ago. One of the lenses had a slight fault and they sorted out the problem quickly and efficiently.

I'd have no hesitation in buying from them again.

I have bought from them several times and found the customer service second to none. I had a problem with a Nikon camera I bought from them and they exchanged it willingly.
For good, old fashioned customer service they excell.

Put my A1 in for a Canon cough repair in September 08, I saw it briefly in May 09 long enough to know it still wasn't fixed so sent it back.
Well, its Jan 11, haven't heard a peep and can't be arsed listening for one, so its a crap crap crap from me..

I'm at a loss to see what this has to do with Dale Photographic. Are you saying that they've had a camera of yours in for repair for over two years? And that you've not actually tried to find out what's happened to it?

Perhaps somebody should point them towards this thread so that they can defend their reputation against what, if untrue, would be a gross slander.

Well if I'm forced to be completely accurate (though what business it is of yours I dunno) it went in in October 09, got it back in May 10 to find it not fixed and I still don't have it back in Jan 11.
There have been a few phone calls during this time always from me, Dale haven't called me once regarding progress on this repair, I would have expected something out of courtesy.
Now I couldn't care less about Dales, the camera or you're opinion, but somebody else might be interested to know my experience.
I find your tone irritating, it is entirely true, but because I don't care, does that then make it untrue, I think not.
Does the fact that I haven't chased the repair at every opportunity (because I do have a life of my own) exonerate Dales from all responsibility as you suggest.....again I think not, they have my name, address, phone number, camera and money, but still want me to wipe their arses.
Now I'm so happy for you that you had such a wonderful time with you're tripod purchase, I had a marvellous time with my 50mm purchase from Dales but I cannot recommend their repair service.
You know where you can stick you're insinuation of lies and gross slander I trust.

So Dales called me today, out of the blue;), suffice to say the situation has been rectified, I have nothing more to say about it.

Glad you got your camera fixed mate - in the end whilst Dale's seems to have a good enough reputation I did end up going to Amazon as they had the lens brand new for not much more.

thoroughly sound shop, ive popped in a few times and found them to be very helpful and useful. 5* from me :)

I have only purchased a Lee Big Stopper Filter from them about 2 months ago and it arrived within 3 days, excellent service, I would order from them again, well pleased!

No problems, brilliant service in fact. I ordered some lighting and had nothing but excellent customer service from the moment I placed the order to receiving the items. I made the order with Stephen Ridsdale who was extremely helpful.

I buy all my black and white photo paper and chemicals from their shop and always good service

I have been buying all manner of photographic gear from Dales over the last 20 years, medium format film cameras, 35mm film cameras, digital cameras, film, bags, tripods, batteries, filters, flashguns, light meters etc. Always very helpful, quality advice, and good stock levels. Not the cheapest but always felt satisfied with the deal. Only problem I have had was with a Mamyia Pentaprism meter about 20 years ago which turned out to be incompatible with my camera and need recalibration - they sorted it out quickly and efficiently. If you are not desparate to find the cheapest deal but instead want quality advice and service I would recommend Dales every time.
