Hope someone can help me, I know it's a daft question but I cannot get the trash icon on the layers palette to show, I' ve tried taking the curser to the bottom and seeing if I can drag it up, no, tried minimising the layers , no good. Help please, thanks
 
Try right clicking in the layer name area (not on the thumbnail) of the relevant layer. You should see a 'delete layer' option
 
Will try that Jon, but as well as the trash icon, all the other icons have disappeared , new layer, mask , create new group etc, gone, I know I can get round this but having the icons at the bottom of the palatte was useful .
 
Hmmm. Weird. Can you do a screen shot showing this? Have you tried making the whole PS window a bit smaller in case it's simply dropped off the bottom and out of sight?
 
I think that's what as happened, but I cannot get the curser down low enough to fetch it back up , lol
 
Just grab the bar at the top of the palette and drag it higher up the screen if that's the case. I'm assuming we're talking Photoshop here? Or just reset the layout with Window/Workspace/(whatever preset you want... probablt essentials).

If you click on the tab at the top you should be able to drag the pallet up onto the photo area to get at the bottom.
