Dacia ?

Any know anything about either the Dacia sandero or duster models ,, compared to used cars there brand new prices seem unreal ?

Mare is on his 2nd, it’s the small suv type one. No frills and pretty basic but not had any issues with them. It the fastest, quietest or most luxurious but gets him from a-b.

My son in laws brother has a Duster. He says it has been very reliable. He has had his for 5-6 years.

My understanding is they are largely based upon 'older' Renault technology; probably means they have had plenty of time to iron out problems.

I believe they don't score particularly well on NCAP safety tests because they tend not to have all the latest safety technology & features. Having said that some of the latest safety features can be a pain, especially when they go wrong......

wifes sister just bought the absolute bottom of the range sandero as she is pretty skint and she really likes it, they even though in a radio which apparently is an optional extra, they are cheap cars because as has been said its old renault tech and without all the "crap" in a lot of new cars that simply makes them hidiously expensive.

I had a test drive in a Sadero earlier this week. It was the 2021 Comfort model with the 1 litre turbo charged engine. It was a really nice drive, though I my current car is 10 years old so any car about a year old is going to feel good. However, the kit list is extensive for such a reasonably priced car.

They do not score well on NCAP safety test but as noted above the low score is largely due to the Dacias not having lane keeping assistance, traffic sign recognition and adaptive cruise control.

The Comfort trim is also available as a bi-fuel car, that can run on petrol or LPG.

I read some time ago in a car mag that the cheap quoted prices in TV and magazine ads are for basic models with nothing added which are/were (so they said) hard to get in the UK which sounds a bit like sailing close to being a bending of the rules but if you can insist on the basic model at that price I suppose you can get it. I don't know if they're still pulling the same trick these days or if ads are now a bit more UK realistic but even when spec'd up a bit they look to be reasonably priced, even if they're older Renault tec.

There are different engines available for the Clio, but TCe90 engine in the current Sandero is the same as that in the Clio.

Thanks all when through the options and it started getting to pricey .. popped out today with SWMBO and we bought a Honda CR-V instead . More suited to my size

tbh you're better off with the CR-V, I had a Duster years ago and liked it fine but had one as a rental a few months back and it's such hard work to drive (it's only when you drive a better car you realise). The old Renault/Nissan tech in them makes them cheap but it's age really shows.

Yep agreed Hugh , had a test drive in the CR-V and fell in love with it , 2.2 TDCI SE .. so top spec with loads of extras

the whole point of a dacia is decent cheap driving for buttons
if you start wanting to pay more then its different territory
