Morning all,

I have just acquired a D90 and I'm having trouble with Aperture (Version 1.5.6.)

When I try to import into Aperture I get a maroon screen and it says Unsupported Image Format this is very frustrating as I never had a problem with my D80.

I've searched t'interweb and it seems to be fairly common but no one seems to have the answer.

Anybody on here found a way round this? Apart from buying Lightroom :)

Do you need Adobe Camera RAW or some equivalent? I think the Nikon comes with RAW processing software...

Aperture is currently running at version 2.1.4 I would say you need to update aperture to get the latest camera models.

Regards

Nigel

I think this is correct. I know Aperture 2 can handle D90 raw files as I have used it without problems.

Damn, I really don't want to have to spend more money on this increasingly expensive hobby. And I don't particularly want to have to use a different software package if I can possibly help it.

Anybody got a copy of Aperture 2 they want to sell

To be fair £64 isn't too bad for the upgrade!

It may be worth trying the Adbode DNG convertor (as suggested in pretty much all of these threads) as Aperture should be able to read these. It is a free download, but adds another step to your workflow.

OK, I've downloaded the trial version of Aperture 2 and still have the same problem:(

I'll have a look at the RAW converter.

reading Ken's D90 manual, he mentioned something about the D90 not being a normal storage device and requires pics to be downloaded via the supplied software (although I just copy my jpegs as a file, but cant upload again)

maybe this might be causing the issue? (well maybe)

OK, the RAW converter works for Aperture 2 but not for Aperture 1. I'll see if I can find another solution.

You may find this link of help Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.3 I have no problem viewing D90 files with Aperture 2 or Iphoto 08 & 09 although I now use Nikon Capture NX2 for most of my work with Nikon raw files. It is a pain having to update software and spending money when a new raw format is brought out - how much better and easier on the wallet it was when I bought my Pentax dslr as I can use the .dng raw files straight out of the camera on my older software with no updates or conversion software needed.

Is your Mac uptodate with the latest OS revisions as come to think of it the RAW codecs for Apple applications are from the OS...

Everything up to date, I may have to spend more money

Have you downloaded this?

Have you downloaded this?

Ok, I've downloaded the compatibility fix and that works with the trial version of Aperture 2.

So it looks like I may have to let some of the moths out of my wallet
