Bought a D90 online last week to upgrade my D60.

Its now £40 cheaper, do I return it and buy it again?

Is it worth the hassle? I've spoken to them and the return is free

Should never have looked at the price after I bought

:bang::bonk::bang:

I personally would not bother, you were happy when you brought it so be happy with it now. Would you want to take back your joint if meat to a supermarket if it was a bit cheaper the following week?

If you are that worried have a word with the store and see if they will do anything. Iirc there was a thread a while back about jessops where the op was livid about a similar thing and when he spoke to the store they refunded the difference

I thought as much Dave, just annoying isnt it.

It was a lot of cash to me, and I watched the price for ages and it never really altered. 4 days later and it drops.

As you say, I'm really happy with it.

You could maybe contact the retailer you bought it from and try to get a £40 refund or £40 to spend on their site, depends who it is of course.

Prices online can fluctuate pretty regularly so is never a good idea to look at prices after you have bought, we have all done it :bang:

if you're brassic and they've said you can take it back then do it, if you can live without the £40 then keep it :)

I'd speak to the store. Most retailers have a Price Match these days and many of them will match the price if it is reduced within 7 days.

They can only say No.

Personally I think this is taking the **** really, its now a used item, and can't be re-sold. Dealer will take a hit, which ultimately will get passed on.

I think this is taking advantage of a good will situation - if the price had gone up instead, would you be sending them a cheque for the difference?

I know what your saying but its just a stinker when you see the price drop.

As stated earlier I have called them and as it is within 7 days they should price match, I have to speak to the customer service team in the morning.

Hopefully all could work out well

but is it just annoying/uncomfortable or could you really do with the money?

i suppose either way it's still a bit harsh on the dealer but if they're agree'ing to take it back (is that a legal thing or good will) then i suppose it's their call

Its just annoying, the money would be nice though.

Fingers crossed they'll do the 7day price match with me, otherwise I'm just gonna forget it and keep shooting with this great cam.

Cheers

Dan

you thought it was a bargin when you bought it , would you be wanting to return it had it gone up by £40, I think not

Is the £40 because of the £60 cashback which started the other day or on top .. which would make £100 difference.

No for me its just a £40 price drop on the site, so if I returned it and bought it again I would save £100 as you say.

Why not talk to the retailer and say that you want to return it because of the price difference and the cashback and ask if you could effectively repurchase the same camera from them on the new deal. Tis is assuming you have not registered your new D90 with Nikon thus making it ineligible for the cashback.

That way you are £100 better off and the retailer is not stuck with a second hand D90 to sell.

Just one of those things and could drive yourself mad checking prices of everything

Swings and roundabouts really, think of all the stuff that you buy cheaper than you might have done a month or so previously

Don't see the logic here, the retailer had the option to tell the customer there may be a price drop in a few days, therefore a win win situation everybody is happy.

Not telling him shows they are willing to let the customer take the "hit".

Enjoy the camera whatever you decide to do.

sees a bit naughty to me, maybe even ilegal, if it just for monetary gain returning a perfectly good camera to re-buy £40 cheaper, if your happy with the camera you were obviously prepared to pay tha asking price at the time, i am sure this has happened to many off us it certainly has to me.i think it's somethine to do with S**'S LAW

If it's within 7 days just return it under DSR. Depending on which retailer you bought it from they may just refund the difference.

If you really want to save the forty quid, how about take it back and then buy the same camera back.
You have got the money and the retailer isn't stuck with a s/hand camera

Andy, agree 100%............

Bought my D90 on the 1st of Feb.

£60 cash back started on the 13th of Feb.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....:'(

I am sorry but a lot of retailers will not know about the price reduction until the day it happens, I can also tell you that nikon will not be refunding the difference between the old and new purchase price that the shop paid. So the comment about the shop letting the customer take the hit is utter rubbish IMHO.

As puddleduck said and I pointed out in not such a good way I feel this is taking the ****. Simple as that, if he was not happy with the price he would not have purchased, no ones fault that the price came down and again as puddleduck said, if the price had gone up would he be sending the difference? In my opinion there is no difference between the two.

I was happy with the price and am really happy with the cam.

It was more me airing my frustration rather than anything else.

The £60 nikon refund would have been nice though.

Happy snapping.

Mmm but just rang my son who works for a large high street retailer who sell camera equipment white goods etc, he told me that 99% of price changes are known well in advance to enable pricing notices/lables to be printed and computer database changes can be carried out etc.etc.

Sales staff are told well in advance at store meetings about any price changes or offers that may be in the pipeline.

Suggesting I'm talking rubbish is rubbish

Maybe so, although i wouldn't be surprised if they be told not to divulge this information before a certain date.

I still stand by what I said, I am sure that 99% of price changes are known in advance as they tend to be increases and wholesalers will use the price increases to get extra business and retailers will quite often buy units at the cheaper price and increase the price inline with the new price or use the old price to get extra business. How ever I have never dealt with a wholesaler who has not taken an order from me several days before a price reduction or even said that one is due. Swings and roundabouts.

if you buy any thing from Amazon and it drops in price within the first 30 days they will refund you the difference if you send them an email.

I think it would be daft, can you imagine going into dixons, get a trolley of stuff, then when you get to the checkout you get told half the stuff is going down in price in a week? the salesman will be sacked, the manufacturers will stop sending the retailers detail and then the shop will go bust.
