I have only had my camera since march (first SLR) i took it to Norfolk for the weekend to take a few bird pics.
on Saturday it started going wrong when i pressed the shutter button nothing happened The f stop had 2 dots or ERR in the panel then sometimes it would work then sometimes he didn't and lots of the pictures were black or very dark, is this a know fault with the D90

Are Nikon cameras a bit like Alfa cars great performance but unreliable?

it was a birthday present (50th) but i have registered it on-line but don't have the receipt- should i just contact Nikon, i have a Nikon scope which has always given me great performance so i was surprised when the camera went wrong after 8 weeks.

any suggestion what might be wrong?

Many Thanks
jim

if it is the kit lens 18-105mm nikon lens then it could be a problem with that lens, my kit lens kept doing it and you had to keep giving it a move when its clicked in place then it works i took it where i got it from and got a new kit lens, not been a problem since..

Many Thanks il give it ago before contacting Nikon

the lens is a 150-500 Sigma, refitted the lens again plus i tried my Nikon lens and no problems at all shot off 150 shots or so.

certainly worth dropping the forum a message when you have a problem, i was all ready to send the camera back to Nikon for repair

Thanks for your help from a newbie.

jim

No sure if that lens has an aperture ring or not, if it does, always make sure it is in the fully open position otherwise you get an ERR message also.

I was going to say what -RV- did. In had that problem a couple of times before I realised it was the aperture ring.
