D90 Owners Thread - Anything D90 related

£620 your going to tell me you got it for a lot less arn't you!
1st impressions are good, feels nice. Although it's gonna take me a while to remember all these settings ;-)

Just so you all know, I think it was camerabox.co.uk that are doing the battery grip for £110 which is the cheapest I've seen.

i think u can get pretty good chinese ones from ebay they are like £40...

Just got my D90 last night before I went to my Friday night social group. :woot:

Glad I can quickly get to Lakeside in Essex.

I got a 2GB memory card (which was £13), the Nikon 50mm lens (which is £120), a £45 centon backpack and the D90 body only (which is £649 in Jessops) for just over £800, so over all not to bad, (I think?)

Can't wait till I have been food shopping with my mum this morning (we always meet up and do this together)

After getting the food I'll be off toBrentwood to go a park to feed some fenced in deer, hope to get some good shots today, but it is my first proper outing with the camera, so we shall see....

:D

anyone using the bundled nx software? would i be better off getting pse?

just brought one, previously had a fuji s100fs bridge camera and it blows it out of the water.. amazing camera

Is there anyone here who works for Argos? :D

10% staff discount would make the 18-105mm kit £669.41!

I nearly did this, but it was my step mum that works there , a few people have been sacked if found out it wasn't for them

Another one new to the D90..! BIG upgrade for me, as it's my first dSLR... was soooo fed up with grainy mediocre pictures from my IXUS...

Just been having a play and the results are outstanding... but I suppose I should notice the difference really!

Been reading the forums to pick up as many tips as I can!

Welcome Pete!

You'll find a lot of very helpful people on here for any questions you may have and you've made a great choice with the D90.

I went from an Ixus point and shoot to the D40 and then D90. The difference is massive. Even if you're initially shooting in Auto mode you'll get some fab shots. Then just a case of getting to know the camera and what it is capable of.

Remember to post some pics up with the new camera and people can give you good honest advice:thumbs:

Well had my first outing with the D90 at the weekend at the BTCC at thruxton, I wish I had a chance to read the manual a little before going but live and learn.
you can see some of the pics here all straight out the camera, maybe a crop or two but no pp.

First impressions are that its a fantastic bit of kit, used live view a couple of times, only taken 1 vid but that looked ood too. Getting tp grips with it from the D40 will take a little while and getting the setting just so to produce the colours I like may take some twekaing too, but thats all me...the camera is bloomin wonderful!

hi yoshi, are you using the kit 18-105mm lens?

hi 355858, No, I bought body only so was using both the D40 kit lens 18-55 and my sigma 70-300 APO.

I can't see your pictures yoshi :( damn work proxy.

It is a big jump from a D40 but it's amazing. Just feels more pro when taking the pictures. The shutter is really loud though.

Some of mine so far in the week of having it.

Just playing with this last one, not a great picture, but shot as ISO 2500 - looks pretty good eh?

I'll pop a couple up tonight when I get back home

benwall, glad I'm not the only one who thinks the shutter is really loud, its a bit off putting and its the only thing so far that both I and my Husband don't like about the camera

Yeah lol, well I was in the middle of town, people all around etc and could still hear it quite clearly, so thought it must be pretty loud. Not good for weddings etc.

I haven't found it any noisier than any other SLR / DLSR. In fact, it's relatively quiet in my opinion. Obviously pressed against your face it will be much more noticeable, but i've never had any problem with people hearing it fro any distance when being used.

Some nice shots there Ben, show off the camera very well, especially the b&w girl and the high ISO shots.

Welcome to the forum Pete! You'll find a whole lot of useful information and helpful people here :)

Thanks guys...

had a bit of fun trying it out, on auto of course!

Took these of one of my favorite subjects earlier!

My lil girl!

I know you lot will pull them to pieces (constructively, of course!), but they they are infinitely better than anything I've taken before with my P&P...

Yes the shutter is quite noisy !

I'm surprised I haven't seen any mention of it being worse than other cameras in any reviews. The last SLR I used was film (remember that funny old stuff?) and that was so long ago I can't remember how it compares.

Anybody coming from a P&S will think any SLR is noisy!

Awesome shots, nothing really to criticize about them, looks sharp.

Thanks Ben, I'm sure the lighting could be improved... will have to start to practise without using auto settings too...:help:

Still, I'm impressed... from a novice perspective there is no comparison between what I was taking to the ones now!

Anyone who hasn't got a D90 may be tempted this weekend as Jeesops are doing it for £739 with lens.

Wish I had waited a week now :bang: and my other half said I should wait and weigh up my options...

After reading all the excellent advice in this forum, I finally went out and got my D90 today from Jacobs in Nottingham. Can't wait to get started!

The camera came with the Nikon 18-105mm kit lens, and as well, I also went for a Hoya Pro 1D UV filter and 8Gb SD card.

Same place as me! Enjoy it.
