D90 Owners Thread - Anything D90 related

Any help for Exposure Bracketing?

I press the BKT button and press the shutter but i have to press it 3 times for it to do the 3 exposures? Is there a way of clicking it once and then capture the 3 exposures automatically, without pressing the shutter again.

Just wanted to come in and say I'm hopefully getting this camera either next week or sometime soon anyways. Can't wait. I'm ever so excited. Also it will be my first SLR that I'll have, and hopefully won't be looking to buy another body in the loong future.

Just wondering what camera bags do you have? I'm thinking of buying the D90 with 18-105 bundle lens and I was thinking getting a camera bag which will fit two lens for a possible future lens to buy in the future.

Set it to continuous low speed select the no of frames you wish and keep the shutter release button pressed and it will fire off the frames you have set with the bracketting. p64 of the manual.
 
Mine works on best H, its ok i guess. I think i was expecting more

Hello and welcome!!

Good choice on the camera i have the very same set up and although this to is my first dslr im loving it its all mostly down to this site and more importantly the guys on it always being so helpful!!

As for the bag i havent got one myself which is a bit bad but there are plenty on good threads about backpacks and pther styles of bags on here

Totally agree with Slumacher. If it wasn't for this site and the people on here I would still be lost but with the help and advice I have received I am getting there. Still haven't got a bag yet though :thinking::shrug:
 
Regarding bags, I really couldn't recommend the Lowepro Flipside series enough!
I've got both the 200 and 400 and am pleased with them both; secure and convenient to sum them up.

If that was to answer my question, I was thinking of buying the camera bag from Aldi which they have got going on, and then stick it in my school bag. I mean I never really use my school bag for books as it is to be honest. It's just a bag I wear for no reason. :lol: I've been looking an Lowepro bags and may buy those bags in the future. Just not now.

... real reason is that I'm a girl and my mum wants me to carry a bag with me at all time to "act" and "dress" like a girl. :shrug:

I have a Lowepro fastpack 250 and i love it , enough room for body + 18-105 and 4 other lenses , lots of room for everything else , even got a space for a 15" laptop in the back but i use it for my camelback on longer walks , highly recomend it :thumbs:
 
just popping in to say hello to all the new owners - when i started this thread i never imagined just how popular it would become :) !

I've just recently gone back to 3D tracking focussing and AF-C and i find im getting better results, AF-S and recompose gave me too many soft results due to subject move and possible camera shake....the 3d tracking systems gives you more chance of nailing focus i find :thumbs:
 
Just discovered this thread. Got my D90 a couple of months ago and am thoroughly enjoying the experience so far. Came from a D50 which I have kept around as a second body as it was a great camera to use. Not really much else to say about it really so here's a photo I took yesterday as a hello...

Hi, Just ordered my D90 with 18-55mm VR and 55-200mm VR, cant wait for it to arrive, just want the 35mm and a reasonable flash to complete the kit. What flash do you good people recommend that won't break the bank

The Nissin Di622 is considered acceptable for the money from what I've read. Personally, I would highly recommend the Nikon SB-400; makes for an excellent, cheap and portable unit.

I've just added a Di622 to my collection and think it's really good. Can't compare it with the SB400 *** I've never used one but it compares quite favourably with my SB600 :)
 
Hi, Im not officially a D90 owner yet but Im off out tomorrow to hopefully pick my first Dslr up.:) Im looking at getting my D90 with an 18-105mm VR lens and just wanted to ask if there are any hints or tips for the D90 that would help me get started?

Just accquired a 2nd D90 as a back-up body for work :thumbs:

looked at the D7000, impressive but, it made sense to get another D90 as I already had the batteries and spare grip to go with it :)
 
Just upgraded from a D5000 and I am delighted, it does everything I want (from a camera at least..)
I know the model has been around for a while, does it have the same software as when it was launched does anyone know?

I'm not sure that there has been any FW update since it was released, the best place to check would be the Nikon website :)
 
Battery Question: I used my D90 at a work do last week and it was set up on a tripod to photograph presenters, so we used LV for ease. Took 60 shots (JPEG Fine & RAW) and my battery was almost flat by the end. Is this right? I never use LV formyself, it just suited this time as the guy taking the pics was also operating the AV so needed convenience. Any thoughts? (the battery is brandnew and was fully charged)
 
I can't see why the mode of the camera can drain your battery....

My D90 used to EASILY do 500 shots maybe even 1000, and last a full day.....

Live view will drain the battery rapidly because the LCD display is on all the time. The amount of photos taken is not really a factor, more relevant is how long the camera was sitting in LV mode with the display on.

Nothing wrong with your battery if it ran LV for 4 hrs!

The manual says not to run LV for longer than one hour as it overheats the sensor. (p46) It also says that if the sensor does start to overheat, the camera will sense this and shut down. I'm quite surprised yours ran for 4 hours without shutting down.
 
Thanks Mike - I wasn't actually operating the camere myself, I saw the guy who was using LV (at least he wasn't using the viewfinder..) it may have been off at points during the presentations.
I was just about to go out and buy a grip and extra battery!

Go buy the grip anyway, they're great.

Make sure you buy a 3rd party one, not the offical ripoff!
 
John, any (non-Nikon) recommendations for the grip? I had also heard / read somewhere that they don't always work reliably with non-Nikon batteries for some reason, can't see why that may be.

Go for the Meike brand.

Can be had for around £30 from the bay! :thumbs:
 
Got my lenses today so I am finally able to try my D90, never owned a Nikon but I am impressed so far, taking it with me tomorrow to Manchester to try it out.
 
I've just joined the D90 club. I used to own a D200 a few years ago so I know how good Nikons are. So far I'm loving the D90 and I'm really pleased with my choice
 
Looking to buy a new camera but cant decide between d90 and d5100
considering they are very nearly the same price, which is better ?

Sorry, but you're comparing chalk and cheese here. The D90 (despite being recently discontinued) is still the biggest bang-for-buck you can get from Nikon. With the D90 you have an "almost pro" camera whilst the D5100 is very firmly in the "beginners/consumer" arena - no offense intended to D5100 owners ;)

Go to a camera shop - not Dixons or Curry's - and try them both out you'll soon see the difference.
