Hi all i got one of jessops 300 model flashguns for my camera at the weekend and seem to have a wee problem.

The thing is i have noticed that sometimes when the flashgun is fitted to the camera the built in flash still pops up. Is there a setting in the camera menu i need to change when fitting the external.

I have had a look at the manual but i cant make out what its saying about the external flash, any help would be great.

The only way the flash will pop up is if you are in "Auto" mode or any scene modes that can also try to use the flash.

Don't use those modes, and you'll be fine.

Just checked with my D70 and SB-600 and the built-in flash doesn't pop up in any of the scene modes with the Nikon flash attached (although it does when the external flash is removed). Make sure the contacts on the flash and hot shoe are clean - sounds like there may be a communication breakdown between flash and camera. (Please not that I checked with a D70 not a D90 and with a Nikon flash not a Jessops one so I could be wrong!)
