d90 battery ??

hi, anyone tell me the best replacement battery for the d9o
 
The Nikon EN-EL3e
 
as i recall there are versions with and without the e on hte end and its the one with an e you want (there more expensive one).

for none genuine batteries I avoid ebay as there is a lot of rubbish. I have actually bought a EN-EL3e for my D80 before christmas from 7day shop and its doing just fine, so that may be a good place to start the search.
 
appreciate your reply, but at £54. i was wondering what the othier options were
like the duracell, is there a specific reason for sticking with the nikon brand on this ??

You did ask for the best- I take it your post is really cheaper alternatives to the genuine battery.

As already said, 7dayshop ones have good performance and are reasonably cheap. I'm sure if I stuck a meter on them and perofrmed some tests I'd find a difference but in real world practice I see no discernable difference.
 
my view is no reason to stick with nikon other than there are a lot of crap none nikon ones out there. My repy wasnt clear sorry, what I meant to say is I got a non-nikon EN-EL3e equivalent off 7dayshop so I didnt pay the Nikon price or run the ebay gamble.
 
many thanks for the replys, thought it a good idea to have a spare till i spotted the price !! and didnt want to save money at the expense of my camara, but finding it hard to come up with justifable arguments for my purchases with the missus ! :)
 
just get one from ebay, I have one for my D60 and one for the D90, both are just as good as the "real" thing. There are a lot of people happy to pay loads more for one with a name on, I'm not one of them!

Nikon do not make their own batteries, they buy them in and add their branding, many probably come from the same factory.....
 
I've got two of the genuine ones in a grip, lasts for ages. I also have a non genuine one that I keep as a backup just in case. I'd definitely recommend paying the extra though, I've heard some bad stories about battery failure on the third party efforts.
 
I just received my 2nd genuine for my grip, paid £22 for it from Amazon, 2nd hand but never used, perfect condition,tried it earlier and camera shows as *new*, I suggest having a look at the 2nd hand ones from amazon, imo better than buying third party batteries.

I bought a battery off ebay that was supposed to be genuine.

New in sealed packaging etc.

However turned out it was a copy and a very poor copy in the end as it did not hold its charge.

I had 3 batteries, third party fail on me. But truth be told, those 3 + 1 genuine nikon helped me take over 10 000 photos the first year I had my D80 or so. But one day they seemed to have magically stopped working.

Totally. I bought a unbadged version from HK on eBay and it has been fine. Now powering a D700 and lasts just the same as the original.

Mine was under £15 delivered - can't argue with those prices. I'll be buying another couple for sure now the 700 is on board.
 
I use Phottix batteries in my D90, just bought a second so the Nikon (which I think may have had a fault as it would never charge fully even though it's only just a year old) can be put to store.

The Phottix seem to work well enough, although they've only be charged a couple of times so can't comment on the capacity just yet.

Another vote for Phottix, I've used their batteries in all my cameras (Nikon and Canon) since the D80, with no issues whatsoever :thumbs:
 
Ive got an energizer one stuck in my d200s grip alongside another offbrand one from 7dayshop and i really cannot fault them when compared to the nikon ones
 
hi all

just thought i'd stick an add-on to this thread, to save starting a new one!

i was going to buy a couple of spare en-el3e batteries for my new d90 grip, and after research on here decided to get 3rd party ones from 7dayshop. however they're out of stock and don't know when they'll be getting stock in.

so can anyone recommend 3rd party batteries from anywhere else?

but neither of the descriptions state they can be used in a D90... I remember reading somewhere (on here probably!) that batteries listed as useable in a D300 will work in a D90?
