d850 raw files

is there anyway i can get my iMac photos to open raw files from my nikon d850 ?
at present i have to import them into affinity photo then export them to photos
is a very slow way to do it

Are you running an up to date version of MacOS?

its sierra 10.12.6

You need to update to MacOS 10.13 (High Sierra) or higher. D850 RAW doesn't look to be supported in MacOS10.12 (Sierra)... Link here.
