Just incase the above filtered through before anyone got to read it...

If you do it, let me know 'cause I'm considering it too.

What is it supposed to improve?

I've installed it on my D80 and can't say I've noticed any difference whatsoever other than the USB transfer protocol has had MTP added in the USB menu (I've no idea what that is mind you!). The download page on the Nikon site does say what changes are made by the update if it means anything to anybody. I downloaded the software from Nikon Europe site though not Nikon Asia : http://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com/...y5zZWFyY2hfbmwmcF9wYWdlPTE*&p_li=&p_topview=1

I've downloaded the update but haven't installed it yet. Not brave enough because I keep thinking I might make a pigs ear of it and break the camera :bonk:.

it's easy... download the exe file, run the program, copy one of the 2 files (they start A and B) to your SD card, go to the setup menu, go to firmware version, then go to version up.

Repeat process for the other file.

Done

Have you done yours Matty, if so have you noticed any difference?

Thanks for the link, I checked it out. it seems that its an improvement of the long exposure noise reduction when using B setting between 1 and 6 seconds.

Downloads don't mention compatibility with Mac, which means I'll give it a miss. I can always decice to upgrade if I find a problem with long exposures...meanwhile my camera works!

Interesting replies, I still see no real benifit, but then being a real amature i don't suppose i would....

Did my D80 at the weekend, went from 1.00 to 1.10 no problem.
Was dead easy to do following the instructions on the Nikon page.

... then there is the fact some manufacturers do bug fixes 'on the quiet' (under the guise of summat else) so you may not even realise there's a problem but now it's fixed....

...shazzam!
