Well if you want the 18-200 then the D700 isn't really an option. As I think you're alluding, DX lenses aren't much use on a D700 since you'll be down around 5MP.

If you know what ISO you'll need and how big you want to print the decision will make itself. I'd love a D700, but given it's due a revision and nearly twice as expensive* as the D300s, I got the D300s to tide me over. I'm itching for an FX body, but the D300s is a lot of camera for the money.

*when you discount the D300s price by the cost of the free SB900 flash. If you don't have a voucher already this could be tricky though...

I don’t think the D300s has a lot going for it at the moment. The D90 has the same ISO performance which is far better than the D80 and the D90 is much cheeper. If you want higher ISO performance then go for a D700. The D700 is due for an upgrade shortly so you may be able to get a D700 for similar money to the 300s as the end of line models are discounted. Your existing lenses will work on the D700 but at only 6mp, although you will still get the high ISO performance.

If you want really good high ISO performance you have to go Full Frame. I've had the D200 and D300 and the DX sensors, even with pro-constant f2.8-aperture glass, dont cut the mustard to be honest.

That same argument works for D700 and D3, if you're not going to used the advanced features then yes - go for the cheapest body with the best sensor. The D300s has considerably better AF, better handling, 9-shot bracketing, shooting profiles, metering with non-CPU lenses, improved weather sealing, 7-8fps vs. 4.5fps,...

do you no witch of these would be compatible.. if any
18-135, 70-300vr, ,sigma 10-20. 50 1.4g

The 70-300 and the 50 1.4 would work with full frame, the others won't.

As Mud says, saying that the D90 compares to the D300s just on ISO performance is like saying that the D40x was comparable to the D200, they are completely different cameras. I myself have used both the D90 and the D300s with the same lenses (Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8) in low light conditions and the D90 struggled with focus far more than the D300 did.
