D7000 first test shots

I have one for the weekend and will be making my way to sunny Blackpool to test it before its UK release on the 5th of Nov :)

I'm now charging it and will submit some shots of it and by it, but if there is some specific test you want to see here then let me know and I will try and do my best!

Lenses at my disposal are the kit 18-105, 50mm 1.4, 24-70 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8 vr 1 and a trusty 90mm Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro.

I can't wait for it and my 300s to charge! :thumbs:
 
PS I have added a poll to get a feeling for this thing before it hits the shops. So the poll will end on the day of release. We've got 8 days of playing!
 
I would like to see what it can do indoors, especially with the tamron, and the 70-200, I have the Tamron, and saving for the 70-200. I shoot lots of basketball and have been waiting to see the results of the body performance. Higher the iso the better as i shoot at around 2000+. Also, what the noise reduction is like in camera. It's either this as a new body or the D300s, This has more of what im looking for in an upgrade.

And im soooooo looking forward to a real 'user' review of the overall camera and what it can offer. :thumbs:

I should have added that the lenses are all Nikon unless otherwise stated so the 70-200 is the Nikon one. but I will have a few shots for you soon!

Some real life indoor high ISO shots please!
 
I quite like the internal specifications.. but somehow there's something about the look of it that doesn't appeal to me.. And it's not because I'm a Nikon hater or anything, my first digital camera was a Nikon coolpix 3100 and it was awesome, in fact my dad still has it, and it still works :D, and just purchased a Nikon S3000 for the mrs.

after studying the d7000, i found out why i dont like it,.. its the fact that the neckstrap ring reminds me of this..

I will say that given that I'm playing side by side with a D300s this thing appears to hold it'a own. The D90 was a baby D300s because the D300s took all the good bits from the D90 and added it to the D300. Using the D7000 has a great mix of the two. As you'd expect! I've not even started to play with the video but to be honest don't expect much as the IF alpha 55 has really set a bench mark for me with SLR video. But that does have a system with see through shutter that allows instant AF! :bonk: it would appear that the new generation of alphas are trying to take what's good from the NEX generation of compact system cameras.

Anyway back to the D7000 any D90 owners know where the AFC AFS settings are? :(
 
On the D90 there was a dedicated AF button to do it, but doesnt appear to be on the d7000.

OK you'll excuse me I'm used to a switch with a big arrow next to it to do everything! :nuts:

On this you press the button on the AF/M switch, the front command dial changes the auto/single pont AF. The rear dial then changes AF-A AF-S, AF-C mode. Simple now I know! :lol:
 
any chance of some ISO 6400 shots in bad light, nightclub / gig type lighting with a 50mm? I know that's pretty specific ;) just so many of the high ISO shots I've seen all seem to be in so so light but not baaad light ;)

So you mean I have to hit a night club and take some shots on Sat night. You b****r, but if it's in the name of research I will give it a go :rules:
 
hi iso's look excellent- whats the lens your using for these?

really keen to see video AF working on moving objects...........if possible:thumbs:
 
Thanks Chris, Can you do some people shots at high iso's in lowish light. Pref with NR off, and on, interested in seeing the level of detail retained in skin quality.

Example ..... (and Im not asking you to shoot a match :lol: )

would be intersesting if you can do a review like this, also i have had a the k7 along with lots of other pentax dslr, and the build quality of the k7 is as good as a d300(and better) as the weather sealing is alot better, but i hear on the k5 they have uped the frames to 7fps and the af is far superior to that of any pentax dslr before, and also so is the iso, the pics i have seen have been awsome.

I would also be interested in your view between the two as I am waiting for a decent real life comparison before making my purchase.
 
While the body is smaller than the d300s/d700, does it have the same quality feel? Or is it the same as the d90? Would love to see some portrait examples at very high iso's (max it out!) :D

Edit: with the 24-70 at 2.8 if possible please!

In both the ISO shots there is very small white cross in the upper left hand side - duff pixles on the sensor?
 
Those Pentax shots at 12800 are pretty stunning..... :eek:
 
I would only add a suggestion that its also tested with more budget lenses as a lot of those going for it will rely on the kit lens and those under £300-400.

If theres no NR added in PP to that 6400 shot then colour noise control is pretty good and its just reminded me that I need to turn on my high ISO NR as I'm shooting high ISO's at present and forgot it was there lol

I am impressed, though it is a shame that - while it is allegedly on various sites that this may be a D90 replacement - it uses an entirely new EN-EL15 battery (at £60-70 for a spare) and not the en-el3e that previous D90 owners may have a few of.
 
any chance in having 100% crops from the shadow area's @ different ISO's? from the bottle test photo's

wow not bad from a crop sensor camera with increase in mp. low light seems amazing , looks like it'll give d700 a run for it's money!!
