D700 - weird issue??

Wondering if anyone has had the same? Im using D700 with mk1 70-200VR. Today whilst shooting it recorded a number of black frames and stamped the exif with lens 0mm f/0.0 and a focal length of 50mm???? After doing this it also put the camera in +5EV comp. I took the battery out and remounted the lens for it to do it again about half hour later. Has anyone seen this before???

Does it do it with more than one lens?
 
I use this combo and have never had this issue!

I'd be taking a hard eraser to the lens contacts :)
 
Ive not noticed it with another lens but I never use others in anger like I do this one (motorsport use so 500+ today).

I had an old 80-200mm one touch that would give fEE on my D200 sometimes. I think it was if I held the body only and din't support the lens so it must have been twisting the mount or something.
 
camera is 5 month old, around 3000 ops. Debating whether to take it in whilst its still under warranty. Ive still got my d200 and its never done it on that using the same lens. Also my d700 doesnt like my 16gb CF whereas the d200 is fine with it all day long?
 
CF card issue could be firmware related, my D3 used to take exception to one of my cards until I updated the firmware, I've got a mate with a D3 also and his does the same, he hasn't updated firmware yet.
 
Ive had the lens two years now Id say and I bought it second hand so really unsure. Will have to double check firmware, ive not touched it so whatever they came with is probably what its on.
 
Mmm. I've had this with this lens on both my D700 bodies. Only ever in high speed continuous shooting. Never investigated it though. Sounds like I oughta clean the contacts !

Didn't notice any error messages. Tend not to chimp so only discovered blanks after uploading.
Cleaning day today !!
