Yes
I recently upgraded to a D700 and am very pleased with it although I found the pics a tad on the yellowish side.

I had discovered the adjustment grid SHOOTING MENU > WHITE BALANCE which brings up the colour grid which allows both A-B and G-M adjustments.

Whilst investigating this I happened to notice that every Kelvin setting on my camera out of the box is set to M1, ie. the dot is not in the center as with all the other defaults but one notch down.

I was wondering if this was an intentional default setting. I'm just curious about why every K value is set like this. Any D700 owners care to check quickly to see if theirs is set like this?

Just checked mine and I am with Scott, that doesn't seem right. All values are set to zero.

Thanks Scott & Adam for the confirmation.

I bought the camera from Park Cameras - new and shutter was 0 or 1.

What's odd is that to get rid of this yellow cast that is about the way it needs to go although to the left or right a bit maybe.

Do either of you have a problem with colour being on the yellow side? I've seen a few posts (google: d700 yellow pics) that suggest this may be normal behaviour or possibly only some cameras are affected by it.

Looking at Nikon's digi-tutor on the D700 shows normal vibrant colours without a cast.

I think, no big deal as the grid seems to allow this to be dialled out.

No never had any problems with yellow cast and always been really happy with my camera. I have downloaded the extra profiles from Nikon, from memory the D2x works really well.

What lens are you using with it? I use the 24-70 and 70-200 VRII and colours are always vibrant.

Changing the settings should resolve for you.

I've always found Nikon's have a slight tendency towards too much red in portraits.

I have the 24-70, 70-200 VR, 50mm 1.8. They all give simlar results. I've tried the D2x profiles but these don't really affect the cast nor setting the wb but I may be doing something wrong.

I now tend to use Lightroom's adobe rgb profile (hated it before), just to get some of the yellow out as that profile tends to add red and remove some of the yellow.

I found this with the d300 but this is completely different. Some people do say the two cameras are similar so I do wonder if there is a variablity on batches.
