D700 or D3

Funniest thing I have read in a very long time. I could almost see the steam coming from the poor small minded chap(ess?)'s head.

Many thanks.

Indeed...

Clicky

His (noki's) second post/rant is just golden. After much resisting, I had to post (only to be shot down, mind you - by one of the most frequent posters no less) :¬)

Just read the whole thread , what a pompous t*wt this guy is,obviously not very confident in his own ability as a pro (or so called pro) it would be interesting to see what would happen if he posted on here, probably the longest thread in the history of TP

I am sure that both the D700 and the D3 are good cameras.

As a Canon owner I will possibly get Nikon bodies too...much later ...but never dump my Canon kit.

As for the OP's question I think it is a matter of how serious he is and how much he wants to spend.

Personally I think that there is a reason why you pay premium rates for the top bodies - features and gimmicks aside - and the Canon 1D bodies simply have WAY SUPERIOR AF to the "lesser" bodies...let alone build quality, weather sealing and all that.

I am sure it will be the same with Nikon.

If it is worth spending the money on the better camera, do so and enjoy it!

Am going to be treating myself to a new camera body after xmas am stuck between the D3 and D700

can someone tell me besides the double card slot and better fps on the d3 any other differences between the two was speaking to a couple of guys with d3's the other week and they said they wish they'd had a d700 and saved some dosh!!;)

The Battery performence of the D3 DESTROYS the D700 with dual battery pack. Talking from several trips / first hand experience. I prefer the size and weight of it, I am used to it now I guess. And whilst it can be dismissed, I really like dual slots.

Hmmm... well for starters, there's no sensor cleaning on the D3. :)

EDIT: well I thought it was for starters, but in the few seconds it took me to type this, 3 others posted

The D3 is rated to 300k clicks, the D700 'just' 150k. Does it matter? Maybe if you're going to keep it five years or so, but maybe also in the resale if you upgrade?

Just a thought. Otherwise, it's decreased size, weight and 'slightly lesser build over a second back LCD and tough weathersealing.

I wish I had duel slots !! (ooh er!) No more full up cards preventing me taking shots of mountain bikers!!
