Thinking of selling my D700 and lenses. I enjoy using it, but it just seems to be wasted considering the number of pictures i take (plus the money could be better spent elsewhere ;))

Can anyone give me a good idea to the type of prices i should ask for the following gear.

All of the equipment is under 3 months old boxed, as new, with all papers etc and is all UK sourced.

D700 - Very Low shutter count (with GGS screen protectors fitted)
Nikon SB600 Flash with Nikon Diffuser
Nikon 50mm F1.4 D AF
Tamron 17-35mm
Tamron 28-75mm
Sigma 70-200 EX DG HSM II Macro 2.8
Sigma 1,4x EX DG Teleconvertor

Thanks :)

Sorry, unable to help on prices....if you do decide to sell remember I'm looking for the Tamron 28-75mm in the wanted section. :) Could well be interest in the other Tamron lens too.

All the best,

Steve

I'll have a stab at prices for you...

D700 - Very Low shutter count (with GGS screen protectors fitted) - £1500
Nikon SB600 Flash with Nikon Diffuser - £120
Nikon 50mm F1.4 D AF - £180
Tamron 17-35mm - £180
Tamron 28-75mm - £180
Sigma 70-200 EX DG HSM II Macro 2.8 - £525
Sigma 1,4x EX DG Teleconvertor - £120

That's what I'd look for on forums...e-Bay maybe a touch more but with those massive final value fees....maybe not. :)

Will keep you in mind should i delcide its worth my while to sell up ;)

I'd have a long hard think about selling that kit. You'll probably get less than 50% of what you paid.
In another 3 months you may feel like getting out there and taking pics left right and centre. Then you'll feel really sick if you have sold it.

I bought a Nikon D70 when it first appeared and never really got comfortable with it or the Nikon software. It never saw much use.
Glad I kept it because I find myself using it more and more. Only 6.1 MP, but it + Elements 7 turns out super pics.

I bought a D700 first week it came out. I used it for a landscape trip and really didn't think it gave me anything I couldn't do with my Fuji S5 Pro - so I sold the D700.

About 3 weeks later, I decided it was an incredibly silly thing to do, so I bought another one :bonk::bang::bonk:

I still don't really think for a nature or landscape photographer the D700 is the optimal choice, but I think this is probably the best camera I've owned (even better than my beloved S5's )

Think long and hard, because I think you might regret it!!!

Cheers Andy ;)

Its just one of those friday things that goes around my head when i look at bills etc, and what i have / what i do with it, and the camera is always one of those 'luxurys'.

I dont use it professionally and it doesn't earn me any money, and at the moment i just don't get out with it

We all have those moments,

If you sell come the brighter summer time you will regret it

I can't believe you haven't closed this thread and put this idea to rest.

Close this, before you do something daft ... for which you will regret and end-up paying for with a lot more ££££ than you bargained for.

I could tell you what I just missed a D700 and 24-120 for, but you'd cry....I know I did :bang:

To emphasise the point made by puddleduck, and excuse me Andy for saying this (but it's not a secret, or something like that) ...

.. but puddleduck didn't buy another D700 instead of the one he initially sold! He ended-up buying two! Yes, two ... albeit he then sold one of them to a happy buyer here.

Moral of the story, you may end up buying more than you sold .. a bit of over compensating, may be . Though, in all fairness to puddleduck, that may not be the case as to why / how he's bought the 2 D700 replacements!

Well in my case, I ended up with two in the same week - one from Nikon Cafe and the brand new one you have now :)

Didn't really plan that - as I really did not expect AJP to ship that for the price they did :D

I do like the D700, but two is overkill

Don't sell, 6 months down the line you will regret it when you get that itchy shutter button finger and then it may well be out of reach of your wallet to replace.

Yeah, D1400 is an overkill ... 24MP, 6fps, etc. etc.

But seriously, thank you very much for regretting selling your original D700, otherwise I wouldn't have been with one :)

The 24-120 stinks, so count your blessings :)

Not so fast on that :nono::nono:

I had that lens for a good while (from 2004 up to early 2008) and it wasn't that bad. Nothing great to write home about, but just like the 70-300G, it had its moments.

is the d700 for sale mate ?

kev

If it was for sale on here it would be in the For Sale section. :)

IMO the OP should hold on to his kit, but if he doesn't, the For Sale forum will be full of peps pressing F5 repeatedly waiting for him to post. it'll sell in minutes.

:nono: It's not gonna do your '365 thread' much good, if you sell up ;).

Still, one way to recoup some dosh, without losing out on your photo opportunities, might be to sell the D700 body (probably for about 90% of what it cost you, now that they've gone up again ;)) and just go out and re-invest 250 quid of that in a D40 body.

Most of your lenses will AF with that body and so you'll still be able to carry on with your photography, as well as putting about 1,200 GBP back into the kitty :|.

Just an idea  ...
