Yes
I think this applies to most cameras but for now I'm talking D700.
I've been reading recently about using auto ISO settings so the camera does the ISO work, I would like to give give this a try the next time I'm out. My question therefore is:- using a sigma 150-500 what would be my best settings,:- maximum ISO would be.........? Shutter time would be.......?
Plus same question using a 24-70?
I've currently selected ISO sensitivity at 640, Maximum sensitivity at 6400, (appears to be the norm) and Minimum shutter speed at 1/640. This is for the 150-500, (I don't currently have a 24-70, I'm hoping santa will visit me:lol:)
Having never used this option before I would dearly love some info.
Thanks as always in advance:)

hi david, When im shooting wildlife. i set auto iso on my d300 to 200-1600 on the d700 200-6400, i use manual and set the shutter speed between 250/500 sec and faster depending on weather condition, and set the apature my self depending on light,
set the minimum shutter speed lower beacuse you have os, so you could set at 250 and at 500mm you only need 500th sec.
these were a test i did all at 500mm on d300(so in 35 mm terms 750mm)
all 1/20th sec
os off,

Why have you set the ISO to 640?

No reason Cliff, I've never used or up until now been in the auto ISO settings menu. It was set as default, I think, unless I accidentally changed it. I was just saying what the current settings are, didn't know if they were ok or had to be changed.

Many thanks Scott, it's a wee bit clearer now. Will give it a go next time I go out, just heard today that I have to work again this weekend, so when that'll be?:bang:
Oh, by the way, I think your bird feeder needs a clean:lol::lol:
