Been trying to find this answer on nikons weboste but had no luck.

I have a D80 and am thinking of upgrading to a D700. one of the things i do not like is when i am using bracketing i have to press the shutter release button three times to get the three different exposures. I know with canon you just have to press it once and it will take the 3 automatically.

How does it work on the d700 - please tell me you just have to press it once and it will fire off the required amount!

Many thanks

Dave

I'm afraid its the same deal as your D80 and its a royal pain - especially when you turn it on by accident and then spend ages wondering why your shots are all under/overexposed and adjusting on the fly only to have the next shot even worse that the last-not that I've ever done that you understand :(

Set the camera from single shot mode "S" to "CL" or "CH" and hold down the shutter button or cable release and it'll shoot right through the bracket sequence.

bummer.

but thank you puddle duck that sounds like a decent compromise.

Cheers

Dave

Maybe Puddleduck's reply was not perfectly clear...

When you have bracketting set, for the number of frames you wish. When you set to 'CL' or 'CH' and hold down the shutter release, it rattles off JUST the set number of frames requested, then stops. You don't have to count the frames and pull your finger away to stop shooting. Which I think is exactly what you want isn't it?

That's how it is on my D200 anyway, so presume the same for the big boys. ;)

Thanks for the tip :)

BTW I find that 0.7 of a stop and 3 frames is a good setup in most instances. But if I remember correctly you can go up to 9 frames and a full stop increments (on the D200 at least)

Same on the D700.

Wish they'd left a dedicated bracket button the D700. I've had to redefine my FUNC button to do this.

Wow! I have a button the D700 doesn't (out of the box at least) :woot:

You have to celebrate the little things
