D700 AT YORKSHIRE CAMERAS SCAM BUYERS BEWARE!!!

If you don't want to loose your money, don't buy it.

Isn't there some site where you can report obvious scam/phishing sites? that's horrendous!

The owner of the real shop has been doing the rounds warning people, I think he even came on here.. Police dont seem to interested.

Such a shame, these scammers must be minting it - for every 10 people who thought 'hang on, is this too good to be true...' there's bound to be one person who went through with the purchase.

If you are using the later versions of Internet Explorer, you can report it through Smartscreen Filter. Tools -> Smartscreen Filter -> Report unsafe website.

Approx 3 years ago I fell for a scam like this and took the plunge to purchase a lens ....Immediatley upon paying for the item, there was no confirmation of payment and my registered details were no longer recognised by the site.
I was forced to contact my bank to cancel payment etc etc etc.
Although the site was in french and was listed with a different ( I cannot for the life of me remember it!), the layout was very very similar to the one listed by the OP.
Makes one wonder if the scam is international.

was listed with a different

should read................was listed with a different name!

Thanks for the imput Guy's, does seem so wrong that these scammers can carry on stealing without anyone stopping them.
There is a phone number on their contact details that i am going to call today just to see if there is any answer.

I'd edit the title of the thread (edit/advanced) to include SCAM to help everyone.

Glad you found out before it got nasty!

Well the domain has a technical contact in Lithuania so that's presumably where the web host is physically located. The person registering the domain claims to be in London, or Londonas as they have spelt it:)

I wouldn't even bother wasting your time, to be perfectly honest - it might be linked to a premium number as well if it is live, just to sting you :nono:

Hmm good point thanks.

Interstingly a quick Google on that phone number reveals leyland-electronics.com which appears to be another scam site, domain registerd 4 April 2011.

I am sure at that price they would always be out of stock anyway. Damn scammers everywhere you look.

A good post to stop other being stung though.

I ordered a D60 three yrs ago from ejaffa to get me back into photography, luckily i paid by paypal and couldclaim the money back, i think if you buy or think of buying from the internet you need to do your homework first to check they ACTUALLY sell them legit.

I remember reading somewhere that cyber fraud originating in eastern Europe is on the up. China still holds the crown for hacking but when it comes to stealing your money, it's eastern Europe to watch out for!

Heh, of course this is assuming you know not to buy your gear from nikon@nationalbankofnigeria.com... ;):D

Okay guys, few quick points worth noting here.

First and foremost - THIS IS WHY YOU MUST ALWAYS BUY YOUR EXPENSIVE THINGS ON CREDIT CARD!

Tattoo that statement on your head and poke out your eyeball if you ever don't.

Because it provides 100% protection against this kind of scam. If you buy a £1700 camera from an internet website and pay on debit card after having read this post then your foolishness is beyond measure, or you're a billionare and don't care.

Secondly, the police can do little to stop this. The people are not in the UK, and will be exceptionally difficult to locate with international cooperation.

There is currently no central blacklist for scam websites per-se, so there's not a lot the police can do.

Reiterate the important point: USE A CREDIT CARD!

In case anybody isn't already aware, when you buy on a credit card (NOT a debit card) the card provider has a liability in the event that you don't receive the goods and will refund you the lost money. Do this with a debit card and you will probably be screwed.

Just remember to pay it off if you do the credit card thing

Sound proper cockney, cheers for the heads up!

They proberly are selling the advertised stock but it's more than likely not uk spec stock or could be grey area products or perhaps refurbished I rather pay the little bit extra off some company like amazon and at least you know your buying proper

No they are not. It is simply a scam website setup to harvest credit card details. They have nothing to sell other than the lists of credit cards they have collected!

If you enter your card details on one of these sites you will very quickly find it maxed out to your credit limit with unknown purchases.

Have you read the thread?? Someone is using the details of a genuine shop trying to make out they are affiliated with it. The owner of the real shop has been on this site and said this is nothing to do with him and that this website is a scam.

They are selling nothing. Grey market or otherwise.

even grey market and refurbs sell for £1500 everyday.

Please don't speculate falsely. It is a scam website. It is set-up to steal credit card and debit card details, to make people's lives hell, to harvest as much financial information as possible from unsuspecting people. The thread, other threads, other threads on other forums will all confirm this is the case.

Refurbished sites make it clear. Grey market sites are quite well known to most people who do their research. Please don't attempt to even remotely legitimise an illegitimate business.
