D700 and Imac

Why doesnt my Nikon D700 show as a drive on my new Imac? When on my old pc i would connect my camera via the usb cable and turn it on, it would then show as a drive and i would just drag the inages to a folder to download them. On the inac i need to open up photoshop and download through there. Is tgere a way to have the camera show up and download like my old pc?

Card reader? Never tried plugging camera in, always used reader, where card shows as a drive called D700

I have never tried to plug in the camera, just the memory card. That comes up as an external drive.

When camera is plugged in, open disk utility from Applications> Utilities and see if the camera shows and if its 'mounted'.
