I'm looking to get a bag that will take the D700 with the 70-200mm mounted.

Can anyone who has this combination please get out a ruler and let me know.

Cheers

Not exactly Andy as the lens mounts further back than the front of the body as the flash sticks out a bit so it would give me a longer measurement which might be the difference between one bag and another.

I saw the "Lowepro-Toploader-Pro-75-AW" at Focus which will take the 24-70 or 70-200

Measured: 11.5 inches/292mm with the old 70-200 VR.

The toploader pro aw 75 thingy is a great bag, need to get one myself. They are about £65

I really recommend the ThinkTank holsters, the website will tell you exactly which lenses each holster will take (including whether you need to extend the bag to keep the lens hood on) and the bags are top quality.

I'm using the Tamrac 5605 "Pro 5" (Link ...) model for mine and it will take the D700 (gripped) with the 70-200mm (mounted) and a TC fitted. You then have room either side for 1 or 2 extra lenses and one (SB-900) flash, or even 3 or 4 smaller lenses. It's a great bag - easy to open, easy to carry and with lots of useful pockets. The only downside is that it has no rain cover :|.

I've had a few bags, but I like the (cheaper) Tamracs better than the (cheaper) Lowepros, as they are made of thicker material and are more rigid. Just my $0.02.
