Ive been using Elements 9 for my editing, but since upgrading from the d90 to d610 ive been unable to open and edit RAW files.
Ive just downloaded a trial version of elements 12 and again the RAW file wont open for editing.
this i driving me INSANE. Is there anything i need to do, before i give up and spend the extra money on lightroom 5?

thanks

You need ACR8.3 for the D610.

12 ships with 8.1 so assuming you haven't done so, you'll need to update

Simples:)

yeap, just updated and working in 12. no joy with my full version (elements 9) though.

Elements 12's latest update includes Photoshop Camera Raw 8.4
But why not download the 8.4 DNG convertor, which will save them in a .dng format that your earlier versions will be happy with. - It's free.

This is true, if you have no compelling reason to upgrade your software- and I don't know how much better 12 is compared to 9, then the free convertor will work- it's an extra step but it is free. I have the same dilemma with CS6. I run CS5 but if I were to buy a newer camera it wouldn't be supported as the latest ACR is 6.7 for CS5. (Elements 9's latest ACR is 6.5)
I tried CS6 but there's not enough of a difference to make me upgrade on the off chance that a stunning new camera is released that I need to buy. I can certainly live with my outdated CS5 version- its functionality is not holding me back:D

i think i will bite the bullet and move to lightroom 5...

thanks

What about view nx, that is free, or the new nikon program again free.
