Hi I wonder if you guys can help?

I recently got an SB600 for my D60 for shooting a couple of weddings. One problem I have is when using it for fill flash about 50% of the time it over exposes shots. For some reason it doesn't want to let the shutter speed go above 1/60. I guess I could fiddle about with flash exp compensation but then I think i'd forget about it and leave it on. I end up stopping it down to prevent the over exposure.

I'm using Matrix metering in aperture priority.

Any tips as to what i'm doing wrong greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Just answered half of my question -Flash exposure is not affected by shutter speed. The entire burst of light from the flash begins and ends while the shutter is open

Cheers

Your D60 comes with the flash sync speed for flash set to a max of 1/60, if you go into the menu you can alter it to allow for up to 1/200.

Sorry if i'm being a bit dim but i've been through all of the menu options and can't see an option to change sync flash speed. I can see a flash exposure comp and ttl metering but no sync options.

D-man,

Make sure you have the menu system switched to give you full menus. Sorry but I don't remember which menu setting it is that you need ... but it's there somewhere :)

Thanks for the advice guys but i've been into CSM/Setup menu and checked that it was on "full". I've been through all the menu's (Playback, Shooting,Custom Setting, Setup & Retouch) and still can't find it.

cant find this either and on my D90 it only allows a max of 1/60th, if you want higher its over to manual it seems........
