D60 question: What's this?

There's a sprung peg on my D60 lens mount just opposite the white alignment dot (see photo). It doesn't seem to touch anything on either of my lenses. Does anyone know what it's for (just curious really)?

Its for lenses with aperture rings (non G)

When your non-G lens is set to minimum f stop it tells the camera the ring is in the right position.
