Hi, i currently have a fujifilm s5600 but i want to upgrade to a low end dslr.
So i was thinking of getting the Nikon D40x with a 18-55mm lens and Sandisk 1GB Extreme III SD Memory Card+ Lowepro Rezo Tlz 20 Bag as a package from Jessops.
(The package is the top right one).
Then perhaps around Christmas time get a second lens like the 55-200mm.

But to start with i think just the 18-55mm will be fine.

Any thoughts on this from existing Nikon users. Any help will be appreciated.

Ive got a D40x, and its a lovely little camera for my needs. The main downsides are; Lack of AF support for no AF-S/HSM/AF-I lenses, and no auto exposure bracketing. Other than that, it does pretty much everything I want it to. Ive only used the stock lens so far, which has performed very nicely, but im getting a new lens(hopefully tomorrow) so i'll see how that performs on the D40x. Have a browse through my gallery if you want to see examples of shots with the camera;

Cannot offer advice on Nikon cameras, but you can get the same items for a better price than Jessops, which is actually a decent deal.

Bristol Cameras:
Nikon D40x w/ 18-55mm - £429
Lowepro Rezo TLZ20 - £20
Delivery - £10

Play.com:
1GB Extreme III SD - £11.99
Delivery: Free

TOTAL: £470.99
Saving over Jessops: £35.94

Enough left over to get yourself a polarizer or plenty more memory. Or put it towards your telephoto.

There is one slight catch, the Bristol Cameras web site says the Nikon D40x kit is out of stock. If you call them though they will be able to tell you when it will be in and add you to the list. I bought my 30D from them, it was out of stock too but I called on a Thursday or Friday, and they called me back the following Monday when they had some in to see if I was still interested.

Michael.
