Will people still be waiting for the D400 in 2062?
Just wonderin'....

It's already here, they just shoved it inside the D800, it's the crop mode!![]()

Ah, I know. I was mad for it too when shooting DX. I couldn't afford the D300s when I wanted to upgrade my old D200, so settled on the D90. Hoping it would be temp and I'd manage a D300s soon after, it never happened. D90 was great, but I missed the better build and size of the D200.
I don't know if you'll ever see it now though, Nikon seem to be pushing their FX system more aggressively than ever. Where it used to be preserved for the pro's, you didn't see the FX bodies pushed on the back of magazines for example, now it's D600 everywhere you look. They're pushing it like it's aimed at both markets. Maybe their time for the D400 went into this? But ... of course, that wouldn't make full sense as the body of the D600 is lesser than what you'd expect from a D300 update.
Well I love my "new" d300s..ticks the boxes for me.![]()
I think Nikon will produce a D400 or a combined D7000/D300s replacement. There is a gap between the current top end DX and entry level FX and the D300s is getting a tad dated in terms of spec etc ...
Rumour has it that Canon might have an update for their 60D and 7D which hopefully means that us Nikon shooters might have an update for both the D300s and D7000.
Both companies had the same strategy for their what so called cheap full frame cameras and this might be the same story for their cropped sensor bodies.
Add in fully weather sealed and with the 24mpix sensor and they will have a winner imo.And truth be told there was not a lot id change from the d7000
51 point af / overall af speed
better bracketing
rear button af (without reprogramming the ae button)
and buttons where the mode dial is
larger buffer
That will do!
