d40 or 400d

Planning to get my camera at last but not sure which. Had a look and play with the Nikon and Canon yesterday and felt comfortable with both. I was planning on getting the Canon originally but decided to go to shop and play with some others to see which one I felt suited me best and came away confused. Some help please

I won't try to help you decide between Canon and Nikon but if you choose Canon then I'd recommend you go for a 30D instead of the 400D.
You'll find some good deals on new ones and a good 2nd hand one will be even better...IHMO

Might be worth trawling through this recent thread...all 91 posts...to get opinions if you go down the Canon route.

I bought one off this forum last week for £400 delivered. It's indistinguishable from new and less than 1000 actuations...that has to be very close to a 400D price. An 18-55 lens would add another £30 though.

A used 30D will cost you roughly the same as a new 400D... I know this as I've just bought one for my wife

Definitely worth considering
