any ideas. i sold the lens to the gentleman he says it wont focus and its been perfect here not one issue with it at all. Is there something he needs to do?

Take it off 'manual'? :)
Probably best to clean the contacts on both lens and camera and see if that works.

Sigma lens may need updated firmware. Could be in both live view and normal af, usually just live view.

This is fairly common with Sigma lenses.

Is it an older or hsm? Older can have screw drive so won't work on bodies under d7k.

It's a chargeable service, They may be able to confirm latest firmware by serial and check against compatibility for free though.

I wouldn't have thought it's that, and it's not really common, my Sigma 70-200 started life on a 40d, then a 50d, then a 70d and 6d, never needed a FW upgrade [emoji3]

Good for you. Mine didn't af in live view and after it came back from sigma for a fw update it did. The 85 and 50 also doesn't af live view in some cases.

If Nuzik said he sent it and it worked and it's the only lens that doesn't work on the buyers camera then that's very odd. Postage breakage maybe...

Or maybe Canon mounts don't have this issue.

Maybe? None of my Sigmas ever needed it, and Nikons AF systems aren't as consistent model to model as Canons.

The lens worked fine before hand. Been using it lots. I did call sigma and they said it sounded like firmware. I have no idea, I don't have a crop sensor.

You'll also note on some sigma boxes both Nikon and Sony they have compatibility stickers for some model camera gens. No idea about Canon and sigma lenses though. EF mount is easier to copy from what I've read.

Best to get it to Sigma either way.

Lens worked fine on Various bodies appeared that the D3330 may not be one of them worked on a d600 and a D500 (the guys said) and works on my d750 so not really worth me paying for the firmware update as it works on more than not. I have the guy his money back and I'll sell it on and make sure they have a camera suitable for the lens. Think that's the best way forward.
