I actually like the red colour
Would it affect retail prices if I want to part exchange it in the future

Not much discussion on this forum yet on the 3200
Maybe it's just too new or people are spending a bit more money on upgraded modles ?

Being a total beginner. I thought it would be ideal learner camera and I must admit I like the look of the red

Is it likely to fade or chip off the red finish ?

 Hifi or wifi - As surely you mean Wifi dont you...
Yes wifi.

Duh
Thats what happens when your finger get too big for the keyboard

Maybe I'm buying it a bit too early with the Apple app not due out to the autumn and then maybe the price will fall ?

It's a marmite thing, the same as the silver bodies they brought out a few years ago. Some liked them but the majority of people prefer the black body so the second hand prices are much lower for a silver body

You'd think Nikon would have learned their lesson from the the D40 and D50 - the dealers could hardly give the silver versions away and they ended up getting sold at a discount.

To answer your question about the finish, every silver D40 or D50 I've seen has been covered in scratches, which probably wouldn't even have been noticeable had they been black.

I can't see red D3200s being popular new or used, so if you buy one at full retail be prepared for a big loss come resale time....

DXO rate the sensor as one of the best ever in a DSLR.... Interesting times... Sensor tech really is marching on. It may well be a landscaper's secret weapon... Lightweight, discreet, but with huge colour depth and dynamic range from RAW....

Very interesting indeed. D3200 is rated higher, with more DR than Hassy H3DII 50! That is interesting, very interesting. Hassy has 16bit engine, Nikons are 14bit. Would it mean DR at the default settings (unprocessed RAW), or some certain range of achievable DR? I suspect the former, as Nikon does a lot of pre-processing behind the scenes; it would be unbelievable if it beats recent MF.

Wow this is getting technical for a newby like myself

And I really like the pretty red colour although nervous now not so much of retail value as I will probably keep it but incase it flakes off or scratches

One thing that really tempts me is the wifi connection so I can out my pictures of fb (once they get the apple app working in the autumn ) instantly and the beginners help section menu
Looking at amazons prices if I get one from them are they a grey import with and instruction book in Manderine Chinese or should I stick to a uk supplier like Harrison camera who are doing it a t £648 with a wifi connector or igadgit who are doing it at £629 without wifi

And I didn't realise how much cheaper memory cards are from amazon etc then from dealers

Great forum for advice Think I've 100% decided on the 3200 now just need to sort out the best price but nervouse from something from hongkong incase it goes wrong

I'm actually going to singapore and Australia in September so wanted it and know how to use it before then

Be careful buying memory cards from Amazon, make sure you're buying from Amazon themselves and not from a Marketplace seller, as there are loads of them (and the same goes for Ebay) selling fakes.

I bought my Canon G9 from Amazon and I seem to remember that it being a UK model, but there's no harm in double-checking, especially as a grey import wouldn't come with the 2 year UK warranty.
