I was wondering if anyone had had this happen to their d300/s? i'm a little miffed, to be fair as it certainly hasn't been miss treated, thats for sure! anyone have an idea on price and availability for the rubber, or would it be worth sending back to nikon to get them to do it?

I just glued mine back on (Nikon D200).

Local repair place in Glasgow, A.J.Johnstone just quoted me £30 for a new set of rubbers for a D200 so I'd reckon a D300 would be similarly priced.
They said it was a diy job if you're quite dextrous as they come fitted with adhesive tape that's a one shot kind of thing, otherwise they'd fit them for a small fee.

If i ever have a problem like this i phone fixation who will give you a quote for repair, i know the issue is the fact it has happend but once it happens you either have to stick with it or get it fixed so best to know what it will cost.

It's not really practical to try and restick the main grip rubber as it stretches and ends up far too big. It is, however an easy job to replace it, all you need to do is ensure that you clean all the residue from the camera before attempting to attach the new part.
