d300s price?

As to your question, the D300s is a great camera if you already have one, but if buying one or the other, you would probably have to go for the D7000

I have both the D7000 and D300s. Personally (and it is just my opinion) I much prefer the D300s. It feels better to hold and I prefer the quick access layout (I.e. buttons on top left, focus mode toggle etc). The 300s also has full weather sealing, wholly magnesium alloy body whereas the D7000 is only part magnesium alloy.
Having said that I can't think of anything I've needed to do that the D7000 couldn't, I just prefer the 300s.
I suspect the prices are influenced by where they sit in the Nikon range. I think the D7000 was / is pitched as consumer unit whereas the D300s is pitched as a pro camera.
