I bought a 50mm 1.8 lens today and was disappointed when I realised it doesn't auto focus with my D3000. :(

Are there any 50mm lenses that do auto focus and if not does anyone have any tips on using manual focus when shooting a fidgety child?! I'm very much a beginner and I find manual focus a bit difficult even with a subject that doesn't move so any help would be much appreciated! :help:

just practice manual focus you will get the hang pretty quickly.....

The only 50mm lenses that will AF on your camera are all over £250 and when you're spending that much money there are better things than a 50mm prime on a crop body IMHO, for example the Nikon AF-S 35mm.

re-sell the 50mm (unless you can return it) and get a 35mm AF-S for £150ish
The 50mm AF-S f/1.4 is £300+

Nikon 50mm 1.4 AF-S has focus motor built in so will auto focus with your D3000 and is a nice bit of glass. If your subject is as described then manual focus will be OK on the lens you have but if you have just bought it then you probably have the option to send it back as the poster above mentioned.
