Yes
After owning the D40 for around a year and buying better Glass instead of the body, i think its time to upgrade to the D300.

I have seen it is £899 in Jessops (although it says £930 in store) which is ideal for me as i wouldn't really want to order it from miles away in case something go's wrong.

Is i likely to come down in price anytime soon? what with Christmas being only a few months away.

Doubt it will drop significantly more, prices have stabilised now I think.

I bought mine a few weeks ago for £979 with a free Extreme III 4GB card. I seen the £899 offer at Jessops the next week, but that's the way things go. Jessops online seem to be the cheapest I've seen anywhere.

Got mine for under £810 at the airports duty free which is probably the best price you will get for a brand new UK D300 with UK warranty etc.

Thats a fine deal there. If I saw that I would upgrade from the D80 without a second thought.

£899? I'm away to have a cry  You could try waiting and see if it comes down nearer to xmas, but the way things are going there's a fair chance jessops will have gone bust by then

Apparently Jessops are safe as they have new arrangements with there bank, but who knows who's safe in todays world:shrug:

Initially...£1150, then Jessops gave me £100 back as a "goodwill jesture" as the price dropped two days later...

could be worse ;)

I'd be more worried about the bank still being there than Jessops

I paid £950 with NX but sold it on ebay for £60 so £890

Yes, quickly withdraw all your money and spend it on camera gear, just to be safe.

:lol::lol:

But to be safe, only invest £35,000 on Nikon, £35,000 on Canon..... :whistling:

Waaay ahead of you on that one  :bonk:

I got my D300 last week from Dixons online for £899, though according to Camerapricebuster their price has gone back up £915.

Camerapricebuster says that the Jessops price is £899.99 and collection is available in store.(though I'd make sure of that prior to ordering should you wish to take advantage of it) ;)

I heard that if you spent £1000 on HBOS shares a year ago they are worth £80 now but if you spent £1000 on Stella Artois a year ago and drank them the scrap value of the cans is £241 therefore it is 3 times as good to just drink yourself into a frenzy ! :woot::bonk:
