I have just bought a Nikon D300 and couldnt open the RAW files in either Photoshop CS or Nikon Capture, so I downloaded an Adobe program to covert the files (into what I dont know) a bit time cosuming but it worked, now for some unknown reason I dont get any thumbnails when I use Nikon Transfer, I tried my old D200 and no thumbnails either, I have downloaded pics without problems for years.
To top it all all my previous pics in Nik Transfer folder from the last 3 years now have a little Adobe icon on their thumbnails and I dont know why!
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Nik Transfer to no avail, can anybody suggest a better way of opening the pics in Photoshop and how to get my thumbnails back before I chuck the lot in the bin and take up fishing!

I found picasa 3 does the job opening my RAW files and editing. It took me a while to get used to.

It may be worth updating Adobe Camera Raw.

Not sure if this will help with the "adobe icon" but if you right click a picture/thumbnail/icon and select "open with" then click "choose program" then tick the program that you want these to open with... then tick the box at the bottom that asks if you want to use this program to open them... They should change to what ever program you selected ie PS or NikonCapture etc

Thanks for the replys, I did download an Adobe DNG converter not sure if it was the right one, I will give it a another go.

hi carl your (new) camera produces files that the (old) programmes can,t read, so you need to upgrade your raw converter to the one that is compatible with your camera. hth mike,

Hello Shakey, I think you need the latest DNG converter which is v6.1 and can be found here. There is a 'ReadMe' file with more information about the converter there as well.

If you haven't already got Adobe Camera Raw version 2.4, which is the last version compatible with Photoshop CS. you can download that from here.

Good luck.

Anyone know why the thunbnails do not appear after download using Nikon transfer, they did the first time I used the camera but not since (D300 or D200) , I just get rectangles with an Adobe icon inside. Regards Carl
