Yes
Right this is for other d3 users this one.

Some times when I can shooting(most of the time its lowlight)It doesnt auto focus and I take a few shots then it auto focuses.
It seems to do it quite a lot maybe once or twice when I am using it for that time.
Say taking up to 400 shots in total.
Dont remember D50 doing this?Thats whats worrying me

has anyone else had this problem or is it maybe a setting that I need to change.
Couldnt see anything in the manual about it though:shrug:

thanks guys

S

I don't really understand the question - Could you state the problem you are having more clearly?

What is is doing now, what isn't it doing now, and what do you think it should be doing that is isn't?

edited ppost.
It doesnt auto sometimes even when the trigger button is slightly pressed,I can take say 4 shots they come out blurry then let go of the button press it again and it will auto focus.

Would be worth explaining what camera settings are giving this problem.

It's getting used in lowlight so
1600 -3200 ISO
F2.8
Shutter 80-160
Auto wb
Spot metering
Shooting in raw too.
Can't think of anything else.

none of those makes any difference to focus.

What AF settings?

Ours seem to focus ok in pretty low light, are you using all the focus points or just the center? Also what lens are you using? Wayne

so it doesnt autofocus when burst shooting without taking your finger off the button?

Af setting in s.
If there much differnce between that and C?
also on single point af

It practically lives with the 24-70 on it.
I have it on single shot most of the time. Never tried to see if it does it with that mode!

You should have AF on 'C' (continuous) and the camera will continue to focus - track - the subject through the burst of shots. On 'S' (single) it won't re focus unless yoou take your finger right off the button and press again. have a look at how to use the AF button for focus rather than the shutter release too - much better.

Low light focussing on the D3 is great - even better since the latest firmware upgrade. Latest firmware is 2.01.

I will have to find that new firmware update. I don't have that.
I will change it to. C when I get in
Hopefully that fixed it.
Thanks guys for you help
Stephen
