d3 and lenses

Bit of a grey word 'better' isn't it? half a rung up from 'nicer'.

More importantly, did you shoot using the same lens(es) on all three bodies? I'm sure this would be of interest the thread starter.

Oh dear. Semantics. Better. Showing improvement. Sharper (often because higher ISO allows higher shutter speeds), more of them in focus. Better colour etc. etc.

Main lenses on the D70 (eventually) were the 17-55mm and 70-200 VR. I carried them over as the main lenses on the D2X and added a 85mm 1.4.

Main lenses on the D3 are now the 14-24mm, 35-70 F2.8 and the 70-200.

I have two sets of photos of esentially the same events - primary age schoolchildren doing sports on their playground - taken 1 year apart. One was using the D2X and 70-200 after 2 years experience with it. The other was with the D3 and the 70-200 after 2 weeks experience with the camera. The D3 set blow the D2X set away. You'll have to take my word for it as I obviously will not post photos of young children here.

The OP simply wanted to know if the quoted lenses were OK on an FX camera. The simple answer is yes, and the 80-200mm and the 50mm (whether 1.4 or 1.8) will be excellent. I'm not familiar with the Sigma.
