D3 and D700 firmware updates released 20/01/09

Yes - AF-C is very, very fast on the D3 in low-light now. A real improvement there.

No issues apparent from what I'm reading around the wibbly-wobbly-web

Great, I use AF-C exclusively so that's good news.

Will update both cameras tonight.

Thanks Guy.

Radiohead,

Just curious to know, the speed increase ... I am guessing (and please excuse my question) that it's been tested with the same lens (before and after the upgrade)?

I'm not a tester - but I aimed the camera and 2 lenses (24-70 and 105VR) at a dark corner with a table lamp and tried the AF.

Before: on an area of decent contrast fine with the centre point and outer points. Hunted a little on outer point on low contrast areas.

After: for all points speed of acquisition was noticeably quicker (esp with the 105VR) and hunted less on outer point.

Fair enough, thank you
