d2X remote shutter release

I'm looking for suggestions or tips on a remote shutter release for the D2X.
The cam is up on a 15m mast and needs triggering from directly underneath.
I'm thinking that rules out IR, unless I fabricate a reflector to bounce the signal 90°?
Cable remote, would probably need extending. Any experiences there?
Traditional pump/plunger remote?

RC servo actuated? I've seen this used in kite photography, I could rig up something too, however that's just more gear to balance on the mast.

I could, just opt for a motorized panohead with release system, but that's about €1400

15m mast, yeah, for high level 360° panos.
