Hi,

I know what you'll say - RTFM:lol:

I promise I have, and I can't find the info, and I've searched the internet too!

There seems to be no 'auto off' function at all.

I've checked all the menus, and the custom menus too. I can set a time for the meter to auto off, and for the LCDs, but not the power.

If it can't be done, then it'll be the first camera I've ever owned, where the camera doesn't turn off after a few minutes. It'll be a bloody nuisance if it doesnt:shrug:

Does anybody know the secret if there is one??
 
As far as know the power is off with the auto off setting in C3 but obviously will come on again when you touch the shutter. Means you dont have to flick the switch back and forth.

If you want it off then turn it off with setting index finger setting R1:)
 
You turn it off with the power switch, pretty much all Nikons are like that AFAIK. How would you switch it back on if the power switch was set to on, but the power was off?

Oh and BTW, why do you want to turn it off? It doesn't use the battery up while the switch is on but the meter is off ( which is configurable )

Hi,

With my 1DmkIIn, Nikon D2H, and Fuji S3 pro, in the customs setting, you could set a time from last shutter touch, for the camera to swith off, ie, powerdown. This would turn off all the screens and the meter etc. In effect, the power was off, but all you had to do was touch the shutter, and the system would come up again. Very useful.
 
that is the auto off setting in c3 which does that
 
Yeah the auto off setting is the one, it only turns the meter off not the camera. The D2x is no different to the D2h in this respect.
