Been missing my D80, so a second hand D200 body from Parks seemed the very thing:) Immaculate condition, 3400 actuations, boxed as new. How much? Well, £529...

So why am I fuming?

Sent up Next-Day by courier. So it needed signed for, right? No-one home, so I expected to have to go up to the depot tomorrow to pick it up. Card through the door when I got in. "Sweet, go pick it up tomorrow" said I. Except the card said "Left at back door". Could also have said "In the snow" and "Here's a camera, steal me". It was sitting there over 4 hours...

So, thank you Parks for a brilliant camera at a great price, and unmatched service, but a BIG  off to Citylink, and their crappy drivers. Going to go caress my camera for a bit now, calm myself down....

Would you be insured in anyway if it was stolen?

Oh and have fun with the new camera! Thats a good price!

they're not called ****ylink for nothing

they're not called ****tylink for nothing

Citylink are truly awful at making excuses for not delivering I have had em all but that is plain daft no wonder your mad.

Bill

Except the card said "Left at back door".

So no-ones signed for it?

if thats the case i'd get on to Park and say it hasn't been delivered,

City Link will of signed for it from Parks, but not signed your end, sit back and wait for a nice new one to turn off compliments of City Link....

.... then send it to me :D

^^ I suggested that first... surely i get first dibs ;)

you put him off scamming it by telling him he'd get nicked,

I was encouraging the lad to do it

do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it! :D

So why am I fuming?

I was wondering that to. All's well that ends well you know. Yes the couriers are awful but you have the camera and the outside wont hurt it at all. :)

Well, I'm just happy it's here:)

Going to fire off a snotty email to Parks, and Citylink as well. The cretin who delivered it could at least have walked another 3 metres, and left it in the greenhouse, out of the bloody snow!!

They could have even done the job properly and made sure the expensive package was signed for........

but none of us are surprised they didn't. ;)

My story, 40D 17-85 kit nearly a grands worth, delivered by DHL same thing not in, had to be signed for, card through the door saying left in blue bin (recycling bin).
At least they put it somewhere dry:D

My HP B9180 A3 printer was sent by courier. I can't remember which firm but they had the good sense to leave it with a neighbour. If I had know how heavy it was going to be I would taken a wheelbarrow to my neighbours!

City-link are total kn**heads! I use these at work! You wouldn't believe the problems with these guys. i have started using dhl now

The wife had a parcel like that card through letter box parcel in bin
and you guessed it it was the day for the bins

Felt sorry for the lass on the other end when wife phoned them

Just as well it wasen't recycling day eh?

Suddenly trawling through peoples outdoor bins seems very appealing to me :D

I'v never had any problems with any couriers, never had anything ever left outside my house or in a bin or anything, probably becuase I live in cities...not a good idea leaving an expensive package outside your door in Salford, would be stolen before the driver had a chance to get back into his van lol.

might be worth following the delivery driver and seeing what he leaves laying around , might find a few cameras in the bin ,

Sorry to say, but City Link have been spot on with me in the East Midlands...every single time as well! Must be driver dependant.

Just phone them and complain but don't try and steal another camera out of it. If you can afford a D200 then you don't need to be a tea leaf.

Anyway, at least nothing bad actually happened and you got yer pressie! Have fun with it, I m jealous!

Don't complain to citylink, complain to Parks, tell them what service they are getting.

Couldn't agree more. Citylink in Derby are by FAR the best courier. I've even had a driver do an extra run after 5pm to get my parcel to me. TNT, DHL and target are a complete joke!

City Link have been great for me, to the extent that I got to know the driver well and would have a good 20 minute chat with him every time he had a delivery for me.
Until.........I stayed in all day waiting for a parcel only for it not to turn up, rang the depot and was told, according to their computer there was no answer and it was carded which was absolute rubbish. A redelivery was arranged, the same driver called and I asked him what happened the other day? he then explained it was not him that was on that day as he was off sick and the driver that was on was a lazy git.
So it really must be down to how conscientious the driver is on a particular run.

Except that the drivers will sign the paperwork/electronic thingy themselves to say that it was delivered, Been there and had it done to me, I had a package sent and we were out when it arrived and they left a card saying in bin cupboard, when I phoned to complain to the courier they said that I had signed for it, when I explained we were out they investigated and came back to me to tell us that the driver admitted he signed for it and that it was quite common for the drivers to do it, he was sacked according to the courier firm.

Oh can I moan about royal mail too, they left two sets of packages 10 days apart on the front door step 8ft from the pavement in full view of anyone walking along for at least 6 hours each time...and then took over a month to respond to me emails complaining...funny timing that you cant take it to the regulatory body until you give them a month to answer!

seems my version of city link was too close to the mark - sorry - :'(:'(:'(:shake:no intention to break the rules, or upset anyone

it seems the quality of service varies in other areas, although it seems to be consistent here - the Swansea Branch seems to strive to be £$%^&$% (not very good) - I remember receiving a parcel from them of 3 x d200' s + lenses + a lot of cards for a race that I was working on (Swansea 10k) - I was to manage a team of 5 photographers, and the parcel that I picked up looked like it had been used as a football - I took a few photos of the parcel, before signing for it and the guy at the counter JUST DID NOT UNDERSTAND :bang:

The cameras were ok, we got the photos and my employer was happy

Many years ago, ordered a large sideboard/display unit from index and booked a day off work to be in when it was delivered. They they delivered it a day early and just left it outside! When we phoned, they wouldn't send anybody out as they weren't due in the area for another week, we had to get friends to help as we lived in a first floor flat!

Went into the store to complain and they gave us a £50 voucher, so at least that was something.
