Hey guys,

OLD NEWS SEE BELOW FOR UPDATE Turned up for a shoot today and when I attachd my 30mm f/1.4 to my D200 it came up with the above error/thing where the aperture would normally be found.

I tried changing lenses, master reset, and wiped the contacts with my lens cleaning cloth re attached the lens and another and the error/thing was still there,...

Basically, I lost the job, went back the car and nearly cried. I have tried as much as I know and cant fix it.

If you can help. Please do.

King.

Ill buy a new clean rubber tomorrow and give that a blast. I phoned my godfather who suggested the same thing. Having tried all of my lenses and coming across the same problem then this could be it. Thing is if i 'jiggle' the lens around a bit it works fine, so it must be the contacts! IT MUST BE!

Anyway, we shall see, thank Joe :-)

Hope that works out for you mate and sorry to hear about the job :(

Hope it gets sorted, sorry to hear you lost the job, that would be a nightmare :'(

Thanks for all the replies. I have been fiddling around and cleaned the contacts on all my lenses and body. When I attached my 100-300 f/4 the problem persisted. However, upon further fiddling when you 'push' the lens upward it is suddenly recognised. This leads me to believe that there is an issue with the mount or the contact has come off its soldering, something along thos lines.

Huge problem is that I need a camera by saturday .

Will pop to local camera shop wednesday and fingers crossed they can help further.

Any thoughs on the above?

Danny.

I recently had a similar problem. I was out for the day with D200 + Sigma 300 f2.8 + 1.4x TC.
When I switched on I got F0, I tried removing & replacing the lens etc etc and eventually the camera started working. When I got home and switched the camera on I got F0 again. I tried a 18 - 70 on the D200 and that was ok.
I put the 300 + 1.4 TC onto my D70 and got an error message.
I then tried the 300 on its own - no problem. Then I put the TC + 150mm onto the D70 and the error message returned.
I then noticed that with the 150 + 1.4 TC on the D70 that there was more play between the lens/TC and the body than usual.
Closer examination revealed that the highly polished ring on the fron face of the TC which connects to the back of the lens was loose. The four grub scews which hold the polished ring to the main body of the TC had come loose. I tightened them up and the problem was fixed.
The front face of the camera body which mates to the rear of the lens has a similar fixing. It may be worth checking to see if those screws are tight.

Its off to Fixation in the morning. Spoke to them and they reckon its a grounding issue, whatever the hell that intails. Anyway, hopefully it wont cost an arm and a leg.

Will keep you posted.

Well, got it back tonight and naturally tested it out. Took all of two photographs and then Err appeared in the top LCD? Manual says it is a camera malfuction and releasing the shutter can fix it. Gues what, the shutter wont release.

Back to Fixation it goes in the morning :( I am generally starting to disbelieve in the Digatal SLR market if this carries on. Back to film it is this weekend then, again.

Without the usual ****-take about the Canon/Nikon debate, It sounds like you have got yourself a Monday morning body Danny..:(

I know it won't fix your D200 but havent you got a spare body to use on Saturday..

Can't help with the problems but hope you get it sorted real quick and the camera settles down and works how it should..:)

Oh aye, back to film this weekend. Hopefully they can sort it out. If not I will claim it on the house insurance and buy a new one.

Thankfully I have learned not to get too peed off when things like this happen. Just simply send it off, get it sorted and look forward to using it again.

I know it doesn't help your current situation K but is a great take on life generally m8 ... ... too short it is indeed to worry about such trifles to distraction ... ;)
