:bang: :bonk:  I AM AN IDIOT :bang: :bang: :bang:! i just bought a camera, thinking it was working, read the description again, realised its been sold because of a card error, there isnt to much info here but ill copy and paste what was written

Nikon d200, i've had this from new, replaced it about a year ago when it displayed card error, don't know how serious this is, but replaced it anyway. all the cf pins are ok and the card fits in perfectly. because of this im selling the camera as seen, and will not except any returns

can anyone work out anything from that ???, what might have gone wrong, will it be fixable ???
thank you so much, i feel so stupid not to have noticed :(
hope you can help

Aye.....rrright

You might be lucky and it's down to the seller's cf card and not the camera, but it may still (regardless of what the seller says) have a bent pin, which will mean a trip to Nikon or a decent repairer and a £100-200 bill...

I once came across a camera on Ebay being sold for spares and the seller sent me some pics to demonstrate the problem (constantly underexposing), the EXIF data showed that he was trying to take indoor shots in a dimly lit room at 1/2000, f/11 100 ISO.....

if there is a bent pin im in luck, cuse then i can send it back cuse hes advertised it falsely!
if he is telling the truth is it more likely to be a problem with the card as apposed to the camera itself?
btw nicely done on getting the camera, what model was it ?

It'll be easier to find out what the problem is (obviously) once you have the camera in your hand, I'd imagine it'll be bringing up a CHA error on the top lcd, witha bit of luck it'll just be a problem with the seller's card, in which case, assuming you got it at a good price, you've won a watch camera :D

I didn't end up with that camera (it was a D40), I forgot about the auction and ended up being outbid - someone got a really cheap camera :bang::lol:

it could be as simple as a firmware update!!!! Here's hoping.

ok thank you guys, if it is to do with the camera how much to repair ??
(o n if it does work i did get a bargin £270 for a D200)

Evening Llama. Great to see you're going for the D200. If the problem is to do with the camera then you are looking at repair costs of around £150 - £200 to get fixed. If the camera is okay (fingers crossed) then you've bagged yourself a bargain!
